A long history distinguishes this place, the origins dates back to seventh century but what we see today was based on the castle built by Federico Barbarossa nel 1164. He first destroyed del old castle and had it rebuilt.
During the centuries the castle saw innumerable vicissitudes and owners; Visconti, Bianca di Savoia, Friars Certosini, Vignati, Belgioioso, catholic University , Cavalli, Gavazzi, parish of Saint Colombano and finally the municipality of the city.
The castle is very nice and big with a beautiful park , a must see.

trip with dogs to the hills of San Colombano al Lambro taken on 16 August 2019; the route in the castle parks is really simple, the walk in our fun place is suitable for a 4-legged trip.
