We (two families, age ranges 12-55) experienced a wonderful five-day trip on the Allagash river last week. It is a special place. Moreover, Canoe the Wild is as good a guide outfit as I can imagine. Dave and Andrew were exceptionally well organized, thoroughly knowledgable, and good humored throughout the trip. I am impressed with their professionalism as well as their abilities to interact with everyone in a relaxed, personable manner. Their daily itineraries took us to beautiful spots, the safety protocols were reasonable and thoughtful, the gear was excellent, and the meals were top notch. More importantly, the guides were consistently nice and shared their knowledge of the river and region in a way that greatly enhanced our trip. Hope we can do it again next summer!

Just finished a four-day canoe camping/photography workshop with Canoe The Wild. This trip was co-sponsored by Down East Magazine. Down East provided a photography instructor and Canoe the Wild provided two fantastic guides, all the camping gear (except for sleeping bags), food, logistical arrangements, etc. It was an absolutely wonderful trip, despite the fact that water levels were rather low, so we got caught up on shallow gravel bars frequently. (In all fairness, I'm a pretty big guy, and we were carrying a lot of gear in our canoe, so we got stuck in many areas where others in our group glided through the shallow water without problem.) Dave and Tammi were the best guides we could have hoped for; their knowledge of the river and its surrounding area were unmatched. The food was fabulous. My wife does not eat meat and they made accommodations for her diet without any problems. I very highly recommend Canoe the Wild.

Looking for THE Maine wilderness experience? Look no further as you’ve found THE man to make it happen. Our expectations were exceeded right from the start. Dave provided us with a worry free adventure filled with learning opportunities and packed with wildlife. He was eager to share his extensive knowledge of the woods and water with us, along with cherished memories and stories he’s gathered over his illustrious career as a guide. Highly recommend booking an adventure with Dave!

Zander, it was great to have you and your brother Ben on the Allagash canoe trip. Great to see so many moose and see you have such a good time catching brook trout while having a great time. I am sure we will do it again!

This trip was like nothing else I've ever done, and we're still gushing about it weeks later. Dave and Tammi are not only incredibly knowledgable and passionate about the environments they work in, they are exceptionally kind and thoughtful people. We had a wide range of skill and experience levels on our Allagash trip, and they ensured everyone was comfortable, confident, and able to enjoy every moment. The paddles were challenging but not overly strenuous, and we were able to stop and take in the beauty and serenity of the wilderness around us without feeling like we were falling behind. The experience was obviously rustic, but Dave and Tammi made each campsite feel homey and comfortable. I would do another trip with Canoe the Wild in a heartbeat, and recommend the Allagash trip enthusiastically to anyone looking for an escape to someplace breathtaking with a guide who brings together a deep knowledge of the natural and human-based history of the area.

My husband and I completed the 5 day Allagash River trip in July 2022. It was an amazing experience. Our guide Wayne and his apprentice Allan provided excellent instruction and made the trip seamless. I had never camped or paddled on white water and at 72 and on blood thinners I was apprehensive. I am so glad that my husband planned this trip and encouraged me to do it. Fantastic experience! We made new friends, saw lots of wildlife and ate like kings. I would highly recommend Canoe The Wild to anyone wanting a true adventure.

Four of us joined another six for a 5-Day Allagash trip 8/5-8/9 and it was a wonderful experience. I grew up in ME and always wanted to do this but it never happened until it made it on our bucket list. Dave was a great guide, laid back most of the time and serious when required. The food was way better than any of us expected, the rapids were a thrill and the scenery was unforgettable. And the best part was being totally disconnected for this time, we only saw one other group of people the entire time. I really enjoyed learning how to pole a canoe and by the end of the trip, my wife was reading the rapids like a pro. It was a great mix of physical activity and relaxing camp time.

I had such an amazing time with my family and friends on this trip. Dave is an extremely experienced and friendly guide who prepares you to have a fantastic trip. We were able to see a total of 21 moose on our trip which was amazing. If you are wanting to make a memory for a life time I definitely recommend taking a guided trip with Canoe The Wild, you won’t regret it. Great food, great time with friends, great guide.

Our group of friends and family did a 6 day on the Allagash river with Dave and Wayne as our guides. Just an amazing experience. We learned so much from both Dave and Wayne about the river, the history of the area, paddling techniques, and wildlife--particularly moose calls!! Food was fantastic!! Ready to book another trip!

We've just returned from a 3 day trip down the St. Croix River with Canoe The Wild. This is a trip that really delivers what it promises. Exciting water, but nothing too serious, Thirteen guests and three staff, everybody enjoying the experience and contributing where they could. Great food, wild caught salmon from Alaska, filet mignon, local sausage and more, all cooked by Tammi and Nick over an open fire. A nights hard rain didn't dampen our spirits at all. We were well cared for, yet given every opportunity to find our own lines down the river. Lots of class I 'rips'. Enough hard work paddling to really appreciate the food. This was a fine way to begin an experience of paddling a wild Maine river. I can recommend it wholeheartedly. Thanks, Tammi, Nick and Diane, you made the trip magical. Tod

The ten of us (two families) had a fabulous 5-day trip on the Allagash last week, a trip we can't stop talking about. Invigorating yet relaxing, tranquil yet full of good laughs, the trip far surpassed our expectations, thanks to Dave and Andrew. We repeatedly commented that we could not have done the trip without them, as their knowledge of the river and area, wonderful meals, and attention to detail (details we never would have thought of) meant the trip was both smooth and rewarding. Dave and Andrew were also wonderful company as they both shared their knowledge and stories, and ensured everyone in the group had a great experience. We hope to do it again!
