Historical Lake, Without Water and None of the Thousand Lingas !
Jan 2019 • Family
Historical Tank or a Lake. Once it housed a thousand (= Sahasra) idols of God Shiva (= Lingum) therefore the name - Sahasra Linga. The muslim invaders looted, ruined and damaged this beautiful piece of art as well as religion. Presently this monument is somewhat neglected, though the campus is kept lush green with large neem trees and beautiful lawns. The area is highly populated with monkeys, local people feed them in the evening. Be careful if you have some edibles or snacks in your hands !

Disappointing
Dec 2018 • Couples
The Talav is dry and there are no linga. It is a total ruin. On the top the place is totally neglected. Only one thing, which can be attractive to many visitors, is the presence of a very large number of black faced monkey ( languor).

Water channelized in an artistic form.
Nov 2018 • Solo
Take along a guide to absorb and view the masterpiece of this place.
Took a solo trip so understood this point.
Has winding tracks and channelizing hollow tunnels to store and divert this water to storage tanks for later use by residents.
To top up all, artistic flavour has been added.
Just along the track and few minutes drive from rani ki vav visit this place in cool weather or early morning/late evening.
No entry tickets and parking is available.
Enjoy,

Beautiful stepwell
Oct 2018 • Family
We visited this place on a hot day in October. It is one of the stepwell found in Gujrat. It is located in Patan Town.
Beautiful three floor stepwell, full of architectural carvings n sculptures in each level. Amazing to see the beautiful carvings in stones, made painstakingly, full of details n so realistic even after the passage of so many years. Beautiful.. Must visit...

Wish there was a guide
Sep 2018 • Couples
This artificial Tank / Water channel with three filters is a short drive from the Rani-ki-vav.

Unlike the Rani-ki-vav, there are no guides / information on this historical site. There is only one watchman / guard.

The Talav consists of a set of winding water channels starting from one reservoir, now dry, leading through a set of three conduits / filters, to a ruined temple (?) which has many Shiv Lingas.

Akbar's teacher, Bairam Khan is said to have been murdered around here when he was on his way to Mecca.

Please be warned that there are lots of aggressive Langurs (monkeys) in this area.

worth the visit

Another amazing stepwell. The dimensions are amazing. The architecture is solid. It is perfect and well kept. The place was clean. We just sad for several minutes to admire such a splendorous art with beautiful carvings and columns everywhere. There were tourists however, the space is big enough you won’t feel it is crowded.
