Odd Johnny was our guide for 2 tours: 1st is Kirkenes Highlights, Snow Hotel , and Russian Border. 2nd is the Reindeer Ride in Näätämö . Both tours were excellent. Odd Johnny was always on time, accommodating, perfect narrator and historian. He joined us whenever he can and even took our pictures. Learned a lot from him and really enjoyed his company. It’s like touring with a friend. The Mercedes van was clean and very comfortable. If you need a tour in Kirkenes, do not hesitate to use Pasvikturist.

We were picked up promptly from our hotel by Odd-Johnny who was very welcoming. We were driven around Kirkenes and then through the surrounding suburbs. We were taken to the border and OJ described the difficulties of crossing the border with Russian beauracy. We were able to take photos. His descriptions of all the places we were seeing were very informative and we can highly recommend this company.

I booked last year for our Norway holiday and Monika assisted me with options and full guidelines of what would happen as well as payment guidelines. I received a payment link a month before our trip, quick and easy

We booked the Kirkenes highlights in a day tour on 23 Feb which included all activities we were keen to do namely king crab safari by snowmobile, husky sledding and ending at the Snow Hotel

Our transport arrived spot on time to take us to our 1st activity. We were kitted out in gloves , overalls, boots , helmets, got our safety briefing and off we went on our snowmobiles . There are quite a few traps for the king crabs along the way. Our guides then pulled up the cage and there were 3 king crabs in the trap , pretty huge creatures. They explained how the process works, we got picture opportunities to hold the crabs which were then put back in the trap and lowered back into the water. Off we went to finish our snowmobile ride and end the excursion off with king crab. We not really big crab fans but this was very well prepared. Our hosts at Barents Safaris just keep on piling on the crab

Next adventure was the dogsledding and boy are these dogs keen to run. This was the longest of the excursions, probably about an hour in total but so amazing. The scenery, the freedom. We had a stop so the dogs could rest and had photo opportunities with the dogs. They are very well looked after and you can see they really love the guides. There are over 200 dogs in the yard and they get scheduled so they are exercised daily and not overworked. And boy do they get fed well, including salmon.

The dogsledding starts and ends at the Snow hotel. You able to interact with the dogs afterwards. Amazing experience

Last activity was visiting the Snow hotel which was crazy. An ice structure with rooms to sleep in . Restaurant and bathrooms are connected to the hotel but not ice structures. Certainly a different experience should you want to. They keep the temperature at -4 and the hotel is open 365 days a year even in summer when Kirkenes is over 30 degrees Celsius

A wonderful experience, well organised activities and professional guides and transport to and from our Thon hotel. Thanks Monika and team

We had a lovely guided tour around Kirkenes with Odd-Johnny, he also took us to the Russian Border and the Snowhotel. If you have a Russian visa then you can go and have lunch over there too. Odd-Johnny was lovely, considerate and very informative. I had no idea how much WWII history was up here. The Snowhotel is an amazing work of art, very well worth seeing. FAB trip, thank you!

We found ourselves with a whole day in Kirkenes arriving at the port at 9 am with luggage and leaving from the airport at 8.30 pm so we needed pickup, departure and entertainment for the whole day. Johnny grew up in the area, knew much about the history with Russia and about mining. We visited a husky farm, had a meal in a traditional building sitting on reindeer hides with a roaring fire, one of the highlights. We were with another three people for the morning and then just the two of us for the afternoon. We went to the Borderlands Museum, the Russian border and the National park along with other historical monuments etc. We could not have been more please with the whole day especially in contrast to the big excursion buses on the cruise that we were on. Kudos to Johnny for a day we will always remember.

We enjoyed a really nice and interesting guided tour with Monika in late September. Finmark is beautiful this time of the year, with leaves turned yellow and orange, fresh air and blue sky!

The guided tour took us the Russian border, fjords, historical sights and to one of the iron mines. The guide, Monika, provided us with extended information about all the landmarks and happily answered all of our questions. She also introduced us to the social history, and gave us great tips about other activities to do and places to eat in Kirkenes!

Booking Kirkenes was incredible, and we are grateful for their help. We were unable to find a way to the international airport from Kirkenes due to the SAS strike. There were no rental cars available. The ferry was a couple of days out. And there are no trains or buses that travel from Kirkenes to central/southern Norway. The owner of Booking Kirkenes (Monica) drove us for about 3.5 hours into Finland where we were able to catch a bus and then train to Helsinki International Airport. Monica and her staff helped us to figure out all of our transfers from Kirkenes to Helsinki and took a lot of the stress out of trying to figure out how to get back to the USA.

I highly recommend Monica and her team at Booking Kierkenes.

We had 2 tours with Pasvikturist, both were excellent. The first one was on a river boat to the Russian border where we were served berries and cream, which very good. The guide gave us a lot of information about the history, the area and the border. The second one was a bus trip in and around Kirkenes, inlcuding the Russian border at Storskog and the mining area. Both tours gave us a lot of interesting and valuable information provided by guides with a lot of local knowledge. The tours are highly recommended.

Following our Hurtigruten trip up the coast from Bergen with friends, we overnighted in Kirkenes and had a whole day to explore the town. To cap it off, we had booked a 2 hour Russian Border visit tour in the afternoon and we all had great time with Johnny. He arrived early to pick us up and was a great guide as he shared his life and stories of the region, and the deep connection with people whichever side of the border they lived on. As we were particularly interested in the border history, he suggested that we could make a change to the tour to visit an old border crossing site. It was a perfect addition to our visit, and we ended up getting back long after the tour was supposed to end. Great tour and great experience - thanks Johnny

Monika and Booking Kirkenes was an excellent experience. She customized the trip based on our party of 5 having 2 seniors and an 8 year old. She was readily available both via email and phone. On the second day she brought her very friendly dog on our tour, making my son very happy. I highly recommend Booking Kirkenes services.
