One of the most beautiful beaches that I’ve visited in Europe. I felt like I’ve landed in one of the Mediterranean islands when I got to this beach. You need to drive to one of the recommended places on google maps and then walk about 1km and then walk down cliff between the vegetation that finished at this beautiful sandy beach.

My wife and I visited Ribeira do Cavalo and the beach did not disappoint. Truly amazing beach with spectacular views. Parking and hiking down and then back up took 30-40 minutes each way. When we got down we saw the boat taxis that presumably came from Sesimbra. Definitely recommend that over the hike. We had called Bolhas tours but they said they were not running.

Great beach. Only downside is the Istagram spam originating from this place where 1001 girls use the same half naked pose pretending to do something 'original'.
Same goes for guys. I get it, you shaved your armpits for the picture between the rocks. Thumbs up for the effort.

Beach with turquoise blue waters, a beautiful natural setting. But it is not possible to abstract ourselves from the human landscape: dozens and dozens of kayaks and boats dumping people on the beach, ball games, garbage, hundreds of people on a beach without infrastructure or toilets. It is not a comfortable beach, it has rocks and seaweed, a lot of wind from mid-afternoon, and its added value, the natural beauty, is hidden by the noise and human immensity. If anyone knows deserted and perfect beaches, please keep it a secret!

Expect steap hike (about 20 minutes from where you leave your car). But it's worth it. Beach is very beautiful. There were hardly any people when we were there in May 2021. Take picnic and drinks if you are planning to stay longer, there are no cafes.

Absolutely worth to go there - it is a very charming beach, and said to be one of the most beautiful in Portugal.
A bit of practical advice: The easy way to go there is by boat from the harbour of Sesimbra - book a transfer with Batnavo (10 Eur per person for a return trip, if you are at least 5).
The other way is to walk down from the road - be sure, then you will fully deserve to cool off in the turqoise water. The walking path to go there is not easy to find, so I included a picture with this review. You park (or walk to) the whithe gravel road leading west out of the harbour of Sesimbra, about a km - look for the line of stones/rocks in the picture, and park somewhere. The path leading down to the beach starts about 30-40 m behind the stones, on your left. NOT near the sign on the picture. It is a 15-20 min walk, and be prepared for some steep parts, where you need to support with your hands.
Bring EVERYTHING you need (plenty of drinking water) - there are no facilities at all on the beach (and bring back all waste).
As the sea raises at high tide the beach gets a bit narrow, and you end up having to be friendly with your neighbors ;-).
Plenty of rocks to climb/jump from or to snoorkel around.

Don't mind the long walk. Don't mind the stones, don't mind anything.
The beach is great. The water is clean, and the ambient is excellent for some relaxation.
- Reserve 1 day for this beach only.
- Arrive early in the morning to get a good spot.
- Bring Food & Drinks.
- Bring your sun umbrella.
- Don't mind about bringing your cellphone, there is no reception :)

Walked from Sesimbra and enjoyed the adventure of finding this place. Definitley need hiking shoes as there is a lot of loose rock and its steep. Lots of people go there so not hard to find.
If you want to earn some karma points (especially if you are driving there) bring a couple of big trash bags and pick up the mostly all plastic. Poor sea creatures trying to survive with all that plastic engulfing them!

Hello Travelers, this was kind of secret beach but no more, you can reach beach in two ways, more confortable you can travel by boat its 10€ come and go when you go you arrange the hour of your return with the captain of the boat, and then when time comes you go to spot of pick up and leave, the other way a more adventure one is by foot but must have nice shoes for walking, climbing the path is bumpy.
On the beach it has a bit of rocks so i recommend some neoprene shoes with sole.for childrens.
The water temperature is cold, but if you catch a sunny dayit comes in handy.
Theres nothing on the beach so if you are going to pass the day be prepared, water, food, basic things for you to have a nice day there.
Hope it helps, Enjoy

Indeed a lovely place.
Do yourself a favour and make your way to the beach via boat.
Everyone that walked there complained, a lot. And safety is an issue.
We used the Megadive boat taxi service, just call 962 912 443. (Hold on tight during the ride!!)
And let's talk about the rocks. This is not paradise land sand!!!
But you do have normal sand to put your beach gear.
There are rocks everywhere, close to the water I mean and on the bottom of the walkable ocean. They really hurt your feet!
Do yourself another huge favour, buy some water shoes, that would have had made a huge difference in our experience.
Please bare in mind the water temperature is the same as you can find in more common Sesimbra beaches, fresh fresh fresh.
It worth all investment.
Beware it has no lifeguard.
Collect your garbage.
