My husband and I went on the sea eagle safari- it was a highlight of our trip! We went out on a calm day, so the trip was a very smooth ride. The warm suits and goggles provided meant that we stayed comfortable throughout. On the busier of the two boats out ( an English speaking and a Norwegian boat) goggles with face shields were provided due to Corona restrictions. Anyway, after a few minutes we stopped and eagles miraculously appeared! There must have been around 10-12 around, circling the skies or perched on rocks. The skipper threw fish into the sea and it was thrilling to see the eagles swoop down. My only complaint is that there were too many to watch to try and photograph the action! We then took a beautiful trip to Trollfjord and enjoyed the scenery and tales about the area. On the way back we stopped at a different spot and again eagles appeared! When I got home and looked through the hundreds of pictures taken, I was quite disappointed with the ‘action shots’ (user error, not lack of opportunity!) so decided to book again the following day to practice my photography skills. I think that this trip represents excellent value for money- to get to see these magnificent creatures up close is priceless!

The trip was very enjoyable, from start to end the guide shared with us some background history about Svolvær, the islands around, fishing industry and his thoughts on efforts to protect the environment. When we arrived to the fishing area, it didn't take us more than 1 minute to catch two fish already! It was amazing. The guide explained us very well about the type of fish and even how to cook it. In the end we all caught good amounts of fish and the guide even filleted the fish for us while explaining us fun facts about the fish insides :) in the end, we were allowed to take all the fish we caught home which was great! A totally worthwhile trip.

We did not have the best weather (intermittent rain and cold wind), but it was still a good trip and our guide shared lots of fun facts about the geology, folk lore and life for those who lived in near isolation on the island farms. Wear warm clothes, jackets, gloves and a hat. The suit you are provided to wear is a flotation suit and it goes over all your warm clothes including winter jackets. Those who sat in the first two front seats got a few wet sprays when crossing the open water with waves. If you do not want to get wet or get bounced around, do not sit in the front seats. It can get bouncy when crossing open water. The water in the fjord was calm. We got lucky and saw sea eagles. They were beautiful. A big thank you to our guide.

Tourist trap. They don't state clearly that the fishing has to be done in pairs, so you actually only fish half of the time. Moreover you have to sail 45 minutes to the fishing spot. There we caught one big fish, but because one person was feeling "sick" we had to go close to the shore again and caught fish to small to keep. Keep away.

Let me explain why I gave it such a low rating. I signed up for the northern light photo tour on Dec 26th. That night was so cloudy that no one could possibly see any stars (If one can't see any stars, chances of seeing the northern light is really low). I asked the owner who was also the driver, whether we should go or not. I called and asked earlier about how to get a refund because of the weather. Turned out that it was totally dependent on the owner's call whether he wanted to cancel the event or not.
This is not just it, the price you pay for this tour is ridiculously higher than any tour you can sign up for in Tromso. (1390Nok vs 1100Nok). In addition, the duration of this tour is only 3.5hrs which is less than any equivalent-cost tour in Tromso. The duration of a northern light tour indicates how long you can search for the aurora, so time is important.
I almost wanted to call it a scam because all the owner did is just to show off how knowledgeable he is about northern light but in fact, he relies heavily on the weather forecast on an APP on his phone. (B***h pls, you can see it with your own eyes that the sky is not clear at all for any aurora searching).
I am legit pissed that I wasted my money on this agent. Horrible experience.

Hi harrisonb364, First of all, we deeply apologize your experience with one of our most challenging products. We strive to always leave our guests with a 5 star experience and read your review with the strongest costernation. We have had debriefs with the guides involved and we have rewritten our protocols and information handed before-hand. The chase for the Northern Lights is, indeed, a chase. We offer guests that did not get an optimal experience to participate on the next available trip to get their money’s worth. We regret that this review did not reach us until now, and would really appreciate to get in contact with you to get a chance to redeem ourselves. Our guides always try to fascilitate for the best possible experience for our guests, but sometimes with narrow time window of the Northern Lights we make the wrong decision, thinking it was right when called. Even though your experience was not satisfactory we hope to get a chance to offer you some concilation. Hoping to hear from you, Team of XXLofoten

What a treat!
The weather was rather gloomy and gray - that's why we decided to go for an expedition with a rib boat to see Trollfjorden and sea eagles.
Friendly and smiling staff welcomed us and everything we needed to be warm and comfortable - and safe - for the trip was provided.
Tord was our "captain" and did a beautiful job handling the larger and larger waves that were teasing us in the heavier and heavier wind. Due to the weather, we didn't see much of the mountains and spectacular surroundings, but it was still an incredibly fun ride and Tord served a bunch of fun stories and information along the way. As promised, we also got to see and feed many beautiful, large sea eagles. At one point there were nine of them soaring over us! Along with plenty of the expert fliers, yet admittedly less spectacular seagulls.
Trolldalen was beautiful, even if the skies were gray and the clouds hid some of the mountain peaks' magnificence.
Despite really rough waters, Tord brought us back to shore safe and sound.
And the best of it all; my husband who gets seasick from just looking at a bath tub, did not feel sick one second of the trip - just as they said at the office when we talked to them about his challenge!

Near Svolvaer we went to a nice walk with Petter nearby a cross-country ski track. The difficulty was quite easy and the landscape amazing. Gear and guidance were excellent. The only suggestion i can make is to take it further 'into the wild' to make it extra special, since this was not really off the beaten track.

Had a really good trip out to see the northern light on Saturday with Petter, Petter knew where to go for the best views including a near miss with a moose very helpful with setting up our camera and gave us hints and tips, He also had loads of info about the region and pointed out some interesting facts on the way around the area. He just needs to change his football team now to York city and he will be fine, well done XXLofoten
