Marte at Norwegian Adventure Company designed a wonderful 10 day adventure for our group that focused on the Lofoten Islands, included Bergen and concluded in Oslo. The scenery was of course breathtakingly beautiful but what really made the trip special were the wonderful guides and the very unique destinations curated by Marte and the team at NAC. Although we were provided with a very detailed itinerary, the folks at NAC were readily available and responsive when we had questions. When my wife and I inadvertently left our passports in the hotel room safe in Solvaer, the NAC team performed heroics and delivered them to our hotel in Oslo in time for our departure flight. We can't wait for our next tour with NAC which hopefully will be a Northern Lights Adventure by Sea!

Just returning from the north bound AHR. Is hard to articulate in a way which does justice to what a special trip this was.

NAC is not a large tour operator offering packaged up, high volume “experiences”, but a locally run operation by people who care about the experience and memories they are creating. Everyone we encountered at NAC was both helpful and passionate in showcasing this beautiful pristine environment. Marte in particular was super helpful.

Too many highlights to call out but in summary:

The boat + crew – comfortable, spacious, with a real sense of history as a former ice-breaker and training vessel for Norwegian skippers. Apres ski beers in the hot tub sailing past some of the most evocative scenery on the planet is a high bar for future Alpine trips. Being welcomed onto the Bridge and shown around the engine room was fun. Every single crew member was outstanding.

The guides – Eric and Teo (spelling) were friendly and extremely knowledgeable with daily expert briefings on weather and terrain selection which ensured everyone was up to speed. Safety taken seriously, they are avalanche pros. Ascents were typically a little over 1,000m per-day, in line with pre trip guidance and at a steady pace which allowed everyone to chat and enjoy the amazing scenery. Excellent terrain selection in finding sheltered cold powder runs on the descents was a highlight – if there is good skiing anywhere on the mountain, they will find it.

Chef / catering: Thomas was super friendly, always introducing the meal of the day which was nutritious, healthy and filling. Breakfasts also excellent – porridge, fruit, continental breakfast with tasty breads. Lunches were a simple sandwich but perfectly adequate, there was always a delicious snack waiting on our return.

The landscape – the photos do not do it justice. All mountains are beautiful but there is something incredibly evocative around summit to sea skiing, the purity of the Arctic light with the mountains reflected in the sea, watching the Northern Lights from the deck of our ship in the middle of a Fjord.

Thank you NAC for a very special trip!

I am just back from spending 4 nights with a group of friends on the M/S Sjøveien, sailing from Lofoten to Tromsø. The trip was amazing from start to finish and I could not have asked for a better trip on which spend some time with my friends in this very special and scenic environment.

The organisation (Marte and team) was seamless from the beginning and she helpfully collected us from the airport when we arrived and even drove us to go skiing before the trip had officially started.

M/S Sjøveien was perfect for the trip; spacious rooms (with ensuites), comfortable communal areas, and the all-important hot tub on the deck. All of the ship’s staff were welcoming, friendly and helpful; for example, heating the hot tub, setting us up with fishing rods, giving us a tour of the engine room.

The food was excellent too: varied and appetising. In particular, the post-ski sandwiches that were ready upon our return to the boat were memorable.

The skiing was exceptional. I have never skied summit to sea before and it was incredible to be able to do it on so many runs. Even though they had a huge playground to choose from the guides did a brilliant job of accommodating everyone’s objectives which was difficult given a range of experience and differing goals. The guides added vastly to the overall experience: friendly, knowledgeable and genuinely appeared to be having a good time as well.

However, this is not a trip that is solely about the skiing. It is the overall experience – life on the boat, the fjords, the endless stunning scenery, the Northern lights – that I will remember for a very long time to come. Thank you Norwegian Adventure Company for making this trip so special.

Artic Ski and Sail on a Classic Yacht

We did a 5 days artic cruise with daily 4-6 hours ski touring (skimo) activities.

BOAT
cabins onboard the ship were fully refurbished and clean with a private bathroom (incl. shower)

CREW
The Captain, the Engineer and the Crew (mainly from the Philippines) are very friendly.

COOK / Food
Overall disappointing. We had either fish or meat but the side dishes were all the trip the same (carrots, beetroot or potatoes). No carbs, no pasta no rice. Lunch was all the days the same: we had to prepare our own sandwiches with a choice of salami, cheese, tomatoes, onions, and dried beef.
What comes to me, I informed them almost a month in advance that I'm vegan. They confirmed me that the chef will accommodate so I was relaxed. I ended up eating as a main course a mix of tomatoes, beetroot, carrots, potatoes and mushrooms without any proteins or carbs. As stater, i received.... a tomato soup, a potato soup and a carrot soup... I complained on daily basis to the chef and to the organiser by ask ing them to give me at least pasta or rice. No success. So for 4 days I ate a sandwich of tomatoes and onions as lunch and tomatoes, carrots, mushrooms and beetroot as dinner. Knowing that we had on average 5 hours ski activities, no need to specify that this diet had taken off all my energy after the second day. I'm not a vegan extremist and ate the snack (sandwich with mayonnaise...) but had of course stomach issue from the second day on.
The chef was simply ignoring my request and justified his position by telling me that his order has not been delivered. I can't accept this statement as there were plenty of opportunities to get delivered during our trip.

Ski touring
The landscapes were simply beautiful and breathtaking. However, even if you are 5 hours on the skis, don't expect to do much out of it. One may be two descent for a total of 1000m in the daily average for these 5 hours. The guides simply refused to split the group in two even if this was clearly mentioned as an option in the program. Even worse, if several peaks were in the daily program we ended up climbing twice the same "peak" for 2 days.

This truly was the trip of a lifetime. We’d booked before Covid set in but the NAC team kept us informed and we’ve finally realised the dream.
My husband and I had not done any substantial ski touring so we were very wary but our guide Karin put us at ease. The skiing was extraordinary (but pretty physical I’d say). Most importantly we felt that a lot of care was taken regarding safety.
Catering on board the boat was excellent and the evening meals were incredible. Our cabin was gorgeous (we booked the top one).
Organisation of ski hire, shuttles to airport, recommendations for local restaurants after our journey - all was five star.
If you are thinking of booking then don’t hesitate - I can’t imagine you’d ever regret it!

We are a group of five, after a bit of investigating, settled on NAC to create a ten day Norwegian Holiday. Marte was our direct contact. The trip was nothing less than spectacular with private catamaran, RIB boat, train, driving tours, and walking tours. All of them with wonderful engaging guides. Many thanks to Marte for putting this amazing trip together.
