I love the Naarden Vesting! And a beautiful view within the structure itself gives you nice insights on how they used it in the past. Have a walk ON the walls, go deep into the brick walls itself and experience how the armies used to defend themselves. Some parts a becoming a bit outdated though. The puppets move i an... More

This museum shows the history related to the life in the forts of the Netherlands. Besides that, it shows a lot of things to enjoy, including the nice outdoor view, the boat tour, as well as the demonstration of the cannon shooting. There are five sections in the museum. Each focuses on specific things. The information is presented in an... More

Visiting the kazemats was really interesting. A bit pity that most, if not all, of the information were I'm Dutch, so a bit more difficult for us to understand everything, and definitely blocking anyone who does not know Dutch at all. Way more interesting to visit this site, than walking in the small village, nothing special is there.

We only visited a small part of the museum, which was accessible during the "Nacht of Naarden". It was nice to view the ancient soldiers firing the cannon in the evening.

In this fortification the history of Dutch fortifications is shown, from the 80-years war (and even before, with episodes about count Floris V, who was murdered in this area) until the end of the 19th century. With many cannons. I like the height of this fortification, since it allows you to see the structure of the fortifications around. It is... More

This place is worth your visit, just because of the visualization of water as a means of defending the Netherlands against foreign attacks by foot soldiers and horse drawn weapons. But when you are not capable of reading Dutch, a long and very interesting video with language options (push one of four buttons) is about all you get beyond the... More

This museum is really interesting. You can see how soldiers used to live, the history of Naarden and fortified cities in general. My only complaint goes to the explanations, available only in Dutch.

The stronghold of Naarden is a fascinating shape, built so that every angle is covered from attack. View from the air and then walk the walls, a nice walk in itself but the history adds so much. The water within the walls is used for leisure activities which is good to see. Inside the walls there is a good mix... More

Worth a stroll is to go out of Amsterdam and visit Naarden Vesting. This is one of the few very historical cities in the Netherlands, with really nice restaurants, and a spectacular view from the great church in the center of the wall's . The Fortress museum lets you experience how the soldiers protected the surroundings of Amsterdam, In the... More
