Beautiful, great way to start Christmas

We came to Valkenburg especially for the Christmas market and wasn't disappointed. Visited the caves on the Sunday. We queued for about an hour to get in but it was well worth it... read more

I was disappointed with this supposed Christmas market based on the 30+ ones I have visited throughout Europe. To begin with, I had high expectations which probably contributed to my negative opinion of the place. I felt it was nothing more than a shopping mall. 10% of the place was about Christmas with the other 90% being focused on mall... More

At the fluweelengrot you get a nice christmas athmosphere this time a year. JUst make sure you got your tickets in advance, surely during the weekend, as you get a lot of visitors these days. The ruines are nice to visit as they give the visitors a view of how Valkenburg was created and how the castle was build in... More

We came to Valkenburg especially for the Christmas market and wasn't disappointed. Visited the caves on the Sunday. We queued for about an hour to get in but it was well worth it. Thought we was only gonna be in there for about half hour as we didn't know what to expect. But 2 1/2 hours later we left. Everything... More

We had to queue for 75 minutes in the cold to get in to caves and once inside it only took 30 minutes to see all the xmas stalls.

Came her to end our tour of Christmas Markets in Europe, and this is the one I was looking forward to. After paying 6€ to get in, we then were basically hustled and bustled by very rude people, as people were going in one direction, and coming back up hill in another direction. I had my mother with me who... More

These were great to visit as there were lots of Christmas displays and stalls selling a variety of crafts and items. At 6 euros for admission this was a good value for money

We took the family to the velvet cave market and didn't buy anything. It was actually weird being inside the cave with statues and Christmas stuff mixed in and disappointing that we had to pay to get into the market. We found a couple of stalls that were obviously the place old Christmas items go to die. There was some... More

The town is wonderful. The cave during the Christmas markets is a literal trap that they make you pay for. Do this at your own risk. The better bet is to find a nice pub or restaurant on the main streets.
