About
In the unique environment of Bodegas Fundador you can admire the art of the elaboration of its Brandies and Sherry Wines. Inside you will find emblematic places such as El Molino, the foundational winery of 1730, as well as the monumental Bodega La Mezquita, one of the largest in the world, the Garden of La Puerta de Rota, considered of Cultural Interest, or a Museum in the Bodega de la Luz, where the Brandy Fundador was born. Bodegas Fundador was born as the first winery in the Jerez area. It has a large collection of sherry cask, unique in the development of the first brand of Brandy in Spain, Fundador. The world's best-selling sherry brand, Harveys, endorses the value and quality of its Sherry Casks, essential in the production of the most international brand of Brandy, Fundador. The Fundador experience has a restaurant inside, a pioneer gastrobar in Jerez, where it is possible to combine gastronomy with our brands of wines, brandies and cocktails.

    Exceeded our expectations
I'll preface this review with an admission that I've never been a sherry or brandy drinker, nor did I know much about how they were made. Our guide, Fatima, did an amazing job of informing without overwhelming. She had answers to all of our questions and did an outstanding job of explaining everything about the processes and differences in the types. I'm still not a huge fan of either drink, but I definitely have a greater appreciation of how they're produced and the history behind them. The complex itself is massive, historical and beautiful, and the giftshop is well stocked and not ridiculously expensive, unlike many others. The samples provided were generous and even untrained taste buds can easily notice the differences between each. Definitely good value.

Fascinating tour and great tasting experience
Fantastic tour and tasting experience. The tour was very interesting and informative about how sherry and brandy is made. Our guide Fatima was brilliant. It’s a very big place and now home of Harvey’s Bristol Cream as well as many other sherries and brandy’s. Tasting at the end was also great.

    Excellent tour and tasting experience
As a British person I’d not heard of Fundador but I do know Harvey’s Bristol cream! Our guide Lydia was excellent. Very informative and knowledgeable. We learnt loads. We opted for tasting 3 Sherry and 1 brandy which was a good combination. Very worthwhile. The trip says 90 minutes but we were there about 2.5 hours!!

Interesting and enjoyable way to spend an afternoon
Great way to spend a few hours. Our guide Tailia was very knowledgeable about all of the sherry and brandy making process and made the tour very enjoyable. We also had lunch in the restaurant which was amazing, far better quality and quantity than anything you will find in the town centre. You have to ask where the restaurant is and a member of staff will take you there. Make sure that you know where the Fundador is (near the cathedral) as it is a little out of the way.

    Cute Bodega with friendly staff
Great bodega and tour experience. The guides were friendly and knowledgeable. The sherries we tasted at the end were nice too. I would absolutely love it though if one or two Bodegas in Jerez allowed visitors to just do a tasting without forcing everyone to do a tour, and every Bodega doing it at the same time. It means the amount you can visit is way less and being from a wine producing region, I don't need to see how wine is made. I just want to taste the wines and hear a bit of info about how it's made, without having to spend 2 hours seeing it.

Enjoyable and informative tour of the impressive bodega
We booked in advance directly with Fundador website for the only tour that day. There were English and Spanish options. Our guide Cecily was very knowledgeable about all aspects of the production process and history and her commentary was informative and entertaining -we learned a lot about the different Sherries and Brandies and enjoyed tasting them afterwards. The shop at the end of the tour had a good selection at reasonable prices. Recommended!

    WORTHWHILE & VERY GOOD VALUE.
After a less than satisfactory tour elsewhere yesterday, this was a delight. Lydia took very good care of our English-speaking group of 20 and shepherded us efficiently around this vast complex. We had a lovely time spending money in the shop and then enjoyed a superb lunch in the attached restaurant. The products are excellent, everywhere is neat & tidy and we heartily recommend spending lots of time here ( in our case some 4 hours ).

Beautiful Setting, Fab Guide, Learned a LOT!
Interesting visit made even better by the enthusiasm of our guide (Cecilia?) - she’s either a fab actress or LOVES her job. Came away with a much better understanding of the different sherry types and how they are made. We took the option to sample 2 Sherrie’s and a brandy which was great. I think next time, we’d go all in and do the lunch as well.

    Fantastic place to see.
Visited this Bodega with my wife on the 3rd July. Really amazing. Our guide, Carlos, was exceptional. His English is perfect and his explanations of the history, the ethos and ideology behind this amazing space was faultless. The complex manufacturing processes of the sherry and brandy were delivered with real passion and knowledge. This really heightened my experience and that of the small group I was with. The tasting session afterwards was again brilliant. Thank you Carlos for your care with us yesterday. Amazing.

    A fascinating tour
A fascinating tour of the Bodegas Fundador with the charming guide, CĂ©lia, providing all kinds of details and anecdotes. The site is incredible, steeped in history and aromas, along with plenty of souvenirs from the past. The tasting session was excellent, even though I'm still not really a fan of sherry. But the brandy cocktail of the day (brandy with ginger ale and a slice of lime) was delicious.

We have just visited Bodega Fundador and experienced a superb tour hosted by Fatima. It was exceptional in every way. Educational and fun. Fatima was such a great guide with a fabulous knowledge and sense of humour.
The tasting experience was equally excellent with both sherries and brandy in a lovely environment.
All the other clients on the tour seemed to enjoy the tour as much as we did and were equally impressed with Fatima.
The shop was bright with all products beautifully displayed with no hard sell.
I cannot recommend this tour and tasting more highly which lasted over two hours and was not rushed at any point.
Fatima is a tremendous asset to Fundador and made our visit so enjoyable.

The winery complex is the oldest in the town and is easily accessed on foot, just a short 10 minute walk from the centre of town. There is a variety of tours to chose from and we booked the “three sherries and a brandy” at €18 pp. The group that had booked the 1pm tour consisted of Spaniards/Spanish speakers and as the only English speakers my partner and I were very fortunate to be given a private tour for just the two of us by one of the young guides who spoke perfect English. The tour provided just the right amount of information and we went from the modern reception area to the historic complex that houses the sherry where you can see the dozens of dark wooden barrels autographed by celebrities and royalty from years gone by. The tasting was excellent and helpful and clear information was provided about each sherry with very generous measures. Overall, we really enjoyed the tour which also represented exceptional value for money.

I emailed a number of bodegas asking for a script for deaf tourists. This was the only one that came with a positive response. We happily booked a tour followed by a tapas tasting. Wow that was outstanding. The tour itself was very interesting and a fascinating insight of the Sherry making process. There are 40000 barrels in one of the huge buildings with a beautiful aromatic smell. The guide (sorry we can’t remember her name) was very well informed and easy to lipread (hats off to her). We absolutely loved the Sherry tasting afterwards. A glass of Sherry for each tapas (there are 5 of them!) in their beautiful restaurant. Simply so good.

Excellent evening tour of the bodega (home of Harvey's Bristol Cream) followed by sherry tasting experience. Knowledgeable and entertaining guide who walked us around the site and across the road to the vast sherry cask storage facility (360,000m2 building, 25,000 barrels each of 600L size) - nicknamed 'el mesquita' (the mosque!) Maximum capacity 40,000 barrels! Well worth a few hours of your time if you want to see one of the major sherry players in the town and their operation. No pressure to try too many or to buy but just sample those you fancy.

This visit is really worthwhile; the bodegas are at the heart of Jerez local history. The visit was made all the more amazing by our excellent guide, Fatima. She was super friendly, made everyone welcome, is extremely knowledgeable, very accessible and passionate about the bodega, its history and the wine. A must stop for anyone visiting Jerez or its region!

Excellent tour! Fatima is an excellent tour guide who provided helpful and detailed explanations about the sherry and brandy making process. We reserved the tapas and tasting tour which was truly amazing. Big tapas portions that filled us up for lunch.

FYI - the website and office clearly state the time they hold tours each day; therefore, not sure why other reviewers were upset about not knowing.

An excellent tour - Fatima is a terrific guide (obviously very knowledgeable but doesn't overdo the technical side). We went for the €25 visit and tasting with tapas - 4 sherries and a brandy and sensational tapas. Really good value.
