It's really worth going: it takes a short time, and it allows the full view of Jerez. It also allowed me to understand how Canaletto painted his many views of Venice: simply using a camera obscura!

Don't miss it. If you haven't seen one before you will be hooked and search them out for the future. Fascinating and great explanation and demonstration. I think it is free on Monday afternoons but it's not expensive anyway.

In the camera obscura you can have a panoramic and unique view of Jerez. It works with two lenses and a mirror so the images are real and in movement. It is the same opotical principel of a photo camera that was discovered by Leonardo Da Vinci. There are a few cameras obscura in the worl. In Spain exist 8... More

Understated but beautiful views. I loved the various displays and information. Some in English and some in Spanish. Take your time.

There is a separate 2 euro charge to visit the camera obscura at the top of the palace and it’s definitely worth it. We were incredibly lucky when we went and were the only 2 visitors to the English speaking viewing. You basically stand around a circular horizontal screen, then the lights go off and the lens is exposed so... More

This is well worth a visit if you are in Jerez. The Camera Obscura projects views of the city onto a screen in a darkened room by means of lenses arranged at the top of its tower. The visit included a talk about the Camera Obscura itself and a lot of information about Jerez as it was viewed through the... More

This is €2 more on top of the Alcazar ticket and it's really with it. The guide who delivered our presentation was excellent and very friendly, you get to see a live 360 degree view of the city and an explanation of the famous sights and some history, well worth it.

Extremely fascinating finale to our visit to the Alcazar. The guide had a good sense of humour who encouraged some of the very young children to help her during her talk. We had never been to a camera obscura before but were delighted we went.

If you make a trip to Jerez definitely visit the dark chamber. It's worth the trip and a great experience. Jerez is not very big but there is a lot to see between the dark chamber, the Alcazar and the bodegas.
