We came here to visit the town and have dinner at Atrio. Stayed at NH collections and dinner at Atrio is the perfect combination. Strolling through the old town is a pleasant visit and can be easily done in one day. Lots of cafes at the main square and 2 streets of basic shopping near the main square.

Did not know what to expect from the town. Looks bit shabby in the modern part. Park in town nice, easy bus service. Helpful bus drivers. Then the old town, follow the walls, lovely cobbled alleys, castles, old churches and super Spanish squares. See the iron statues and monkey hanging off the wall.

I stayed in the medieval Parador de Caceres, which only helped to create a mood of going back in time many centuries. The city has wisely kept modern signage and development out of the walled city. The mood is like going back in time to the 1300s, with the exception of the few cars and contemporary clothing. I was fortunate... More

If they are filming one of the many many movies filmed here because of the historic location scenery, you will NOT see anything. You wont be allowed to even walk the charming old streets. We were lucky the second day it poured down rain, so they cancelled the filming and we were allowed to at least walk around. BUT most... More

Thoroughly enjoyed our 2 days in Caceres, we found the old town fascinating. It is easily walkable although with some steep climbs.

There are many medieval palaces and churches in this winding cobbled streets area of Caceres. Do see the cathedral, climb the bell tower for great vistas across the rooftops andthe meseta.

Unfortunately we didn't get the proper experience of the old town because two productions were being filmed and streets were blocked off at every turn!!!! What we did see did not disappoint! And it was interesting to see hundreds of extras all dressed up in period clothing.

We loved this old city. It's a magical place. Wonder around the narrow streets, make sure you have comfortable shoes since there are lots of ups and downs and lots of stairs. Must visit!
