The Palace of the Golfines de Abajo in Caceres houses an interesting display of artistic patrimony from the Foundation Tatiana Pérez de Guzmán el Bueno. This house museum offers the possibility to know the evolution of nobility through the lineage...more
The outside of this city palace itself is worthwhile a closer look. The inside one can only visit by going on one of the tours, which are in Spanish only. Inside one isn't allowed to take pictures, but outside and in the patio it is...More
The Catholic monarch, Isabel and Fernando, were guests in this house during their two visits to Caceres. The house has a 15th portion that presents a house-fortress appearance complete of tower with machicolations. The other is a 16th century humanistic addition decorated with fantastic animals.
Our visit was completely spoiled by the poor and unhelpful attitude of the staff.
I spoke to the guide beforehand and mentioned that neither my wife or I understood Spanish. The guide was clearly able to speak English reasonably well. I asked if the guide...More
You can only visite this palace by taking part in one of the guided tours (that I think are only in Spanish but I'm not sure). However, the rooms of the Palace are very well maintained and the visite is very informative.

You can only visit it via a guided tour, and these are often only in Spanish, so do...More
Impressive palace built by the secretary of queen Isabella in 15th century. No English tour available except for pre-arranged groups. No English audio. Also no English explanations next to artifacts. Typical for Spain. Palace is beautiful with old tapestry, antiques, paintings. Both 18th and 19th...More
Absolutely fantastic! The building is spectacular and the interior takes your breath away, it's a real trip back in time to the XV Century. The Palace of Golfines de Abajo, where the Catholics Kings, Fernado and Isabel, would stay when they would visit the city,...More
Of all the places in Caceres, in the old town we were looking forward to seeing the Palace de los Golfines de Abajo. Sadly we didn't even go in - the staff were very rude and unfriendly. They clearly did not want to bother with...More
