The castle and the area are grat. The visit and the tour guide in English are very interested. Need to, check the time for the English tour_don't miss it. It's have a lot of steps ( 606) during the visit, so if you have a problem with this- don't do it. The road from Liptovsky Mikluas 584 is marvelous.

There is A LOT of walking and climbing stairs required but I'm so glad I saw it all. It's a beautiful castle and well maintained. The tour is in multiple languages and very informative. They have people dressed from the period through the castle, it would be nice if they were more interactive during the tour.

Orava castle is Hauntingly beautiful but a treacherous climb, not recommended for the weak hearted. Located high on a rock this medieval castle gives you some of the best views of the surrounding countryside. A must for photographers. I would recommend a visit but remember it is quite a climb and an even worse descent. Your knees will be sore... More

Orava castle perched high above the tiny village of Oravsky Podzamok in Slovakia is an interesting plan to visit. An ancient castle built as early as the thirteenth century it has a gothic and dark medieval sort of atmosphere. A steep walk unto the castle entails entering through three huge impregnable iron gates which are closed behind as one enters.... More

It is suposed to be one of the most frequently visited monuments in Slovakia. It definitely has potential. The visitors are not allowed to visit the castle at their own pace but have to follow the guide who bores them with stories one knows from history classes, books and movies. And beware, the visit lasts 2 hours! You will see... More

This castle was used in the silent movie Nosferatu the Vampire. The only way to visit is by guided tour which takes approx. one hour and tickets are purchased at the approach to the castle from the main road. It is a steep approach to the entry gate and then a continuous climb through the interior and in some places... More

The caste is worth seeing despite almost 700 stairs. We combined long and short guided tour which took us almost 2 hours. During our visit the weather has changed from light rain to drizzle and sunshine. We thought the weather will attract less visitors but the opposite was true. The castel was buzzing with visitors. We have a yorkshire terrier.... More

One of the better looking castles in eastern Europe. An hour you will spend with a guide worth it. Dracula movie was shot here.

A castle in northern Slovakia close to the Polish border. It rises up a promontory through three main gates, each floor perched ever more precariously on the rock. It takes around two hours to do the tour and by the time you've finished you will have climbed 660 steps. The guide addressed the party in Slovak but she spoke good... More

Orava Castle is located on the rock at a height about 120 m above Orava river level, which flows near to castle mountain. It is one of the most impressive castles ever seen by me, especially from the point of its localization. Inside the castle has a lot of levels (lower, middle and upper castle): sightseeing it You are climbing... More
