Castle with over 600 stairs
Aug 2020 • Family
Special castle, we were surprised, hoe structured it is. The oldest part, that used as barracks is at the top of rocky mountains, newer parts including fortification are lower, that means a lot of stairs to climb. Also, the castle itself has been burned in 18 century, therefore nothimg is original. But the overall impression is great with amazing guides

Best Castle in Slovakia
Sep 2019
The view from the top of the castle is incredible. The tours are a great balance between history and landscape information. Lots of things to look at so even kids will enjoy. Definately bring a camera and take the full tour.

Family trip

Worth to stop when passing by. Although a bit crowded we enjoyed it. Hard to believe that such a place was built in local conditions on the steep rock. We have been to many places and this one I really enjoyed. Climbing up on the stairs to the top of the castle was awesome.

Beautiful castle on a rock
Sep 2019
You can book a guided tour for 10 EUR, you can see how people dressed, slept and lived in that area few hundred years ago. It has own church (chapel), the exposition was very interesting.

Beautiful (from the outside) and inexpensive
Oct 2019 • Family
The castle is beautiful from the outside, but inside the displays are not that interesting.

We had to join a Slovakian tour to see the castle. Our guide tried to speak English but had limited fluency. Although we had the app our group of four couldn’t listen to it out loud as that would interrupt the tour. I ended up reading it, which was ok but it wasn’t as enlightening as it could be and the translation didn’t always make sense.

Our driver had told us most Slovakian tourists are locals or Polish and this is clearly the target market. An investment in proper audio guides is needed.

We really liked this castle. We went a little bit out of intended way to visit it, but it was well worth it. If you ever find yourself in the area make sure you stop in

Beautiful castle, with a dearth of information
Aug 2019
This castle is quite nice -in my top four for the castles of Slovakia. I love the way it emerges from the rock of the hill. However, you have to pay for a tour and tours are only in Slovakian. They have an audio guide you can download in an app. Unfortunately, you have to download all of the audio files, with poor wifi and it takes so long the battery dies on your phone. Luckily I had just enough power to snap a few photos, but not enough to actually listen to the files. If you are paying, they should provide real audio guides.
