Nice little find - but only just scraped in at a 4...
Aug 2016
Found this place by chance on line and have just come back from a 2 night stay here. Our welcome (both human and canine) was good, once we got in! Nice location right in centre of the village with view of church and village 'garden' - lovely flower display. I'm afraid, though, that I must point out a few problems here: firstly; location - it's off the very busy A52/17 but unless you had booked to come here you really wouldn't find it. The room is in dire need of redecoration I'm afraid as the decor was looking very neglected and the wiring/electrics left us scratching our heads...bathroom was a bit small and the taps were a bit confusing as it took a while to work out which was which - got there in the end when the hot water came through!! The bed wasn't very comfortable but then we are used to memory foam at home. There was a kettle (I descaled it for you!) and cups - if you wanted fresh milk it was available in the village shop right next door. The problem of the top drawer mystery items was resolved quickly with much hilarity in the end, so thanks for that: I will keep a watch on Ebay - haha! Breakfast was very good, freshly cooked and arrived quickly, so full marks there. No evening meals but just pop over the road (literally) to the other pub for pizza and bar snacks - were there last night (opening night) and they did good. Quick tip for a good evening meal - The Barge just up the A52 to Boston. One last point, the owner and his faithful hounds 'make the place', even though it is in need of a mega makeover upstairs...

Great Food Clean rooms a bit noisy
Aug 2016 • Couples
Stayed here in August for a couple of nights, very friendly staff great food average but clean and comfortable rooms, only complaint was that the room we had overlooked the beer garden, and the pub is very popular, this meant we had to keep the windows closed to reduce the disturbance and cigarette smoke from keeping us awake.
The restaurant is very good if a little hectic, worth booking a table especially of a weekend, we got lucky on the Saturday, and they could offer us a table.
Will definitely visit the restaurant again as the food was worth travelling for.

Tremendous value and great hospitality
May 2016 • Business
I made this booking having found it on trip advisor, the few reviews I read were all excellent but I had some doubts as I was only being charged £55 for a twin room with breakfast included, could it really live up to a 5 star rating? You bet it does, on arrival we were checked in and shown our room which was nice and clean, tea & coffee making facilities, nice mugs as well. A lovely bathroom with bath and shower, WC and basin, all nice and clean.

We then went for a meal in the restaurant, being a northern lad the black pudding stack was a must and went down well, followed by mixed grill cooked to perfection, there was that much meat I had to offer some to the resident dogs. All of this was washed down with a few pints of good ale from the Otter Brewery, it sure travelled well.

A good and comfortable nights sleep in this lovely and quiet village just outside Boston, Lincs. In the morning we were treated to a lovely quality full English breakfast. No charge for the extra toast either.

Now, the biggest winner of all, B&B plus both of us having a two course meal, total bill came to just under £102. I am sure you will find it difficult to get this level of service, comfort and quality anywhere close by. As a comparison, I looked at booking a night stay at the premier inn, room only was £102 food etc would be on top of that!

Well done, and thanks. If I come over that way again I know where I will be staying.

Great value and service

This was the perfect place to stay, great value, clean and the staff were friendly and accommodating. The beer was good in the bar and the food in the restaurant was great. We stayed for one night and because of work, asked for a second night which was no problem. Although we had to leave early the following morning and would miss breakfast the proprietor offered us breakfast baguettes which were outstanding! I cannot speak highly enough of this place and will definitely visit again if working anywhere near!!

GOOD FOOD
Nov 2015 • Couples
We visited this hotel for a Friday lunch with some friends and although the restaurant was very quiet, the staff made you feel very welcome. The food was excellent with great variety on the menu plus daily specials. The restaurant was very clean and the food was served on 'hot plates' a must have for a hot meal.

17 of us visited for our works xmas lunchtime meal on the 18th , very good food all of us enjoyed it thoroughly...I think work uniform would look a lot smarter though, just so you know who are staff and who are customers :-)

Three Nights on Business
Dec 2015 • Business
Booked for three nights, while I worked in Boston. I can't fault the stay, the Hotel met all my requirements. I train staff in customer service and hospitality and can say that the owners and staff clearly put a customers interests at heart.

The food was of a good quality and quantity with lots of choice.

Overall excellent value for money and I would happily stay there again and recommend the Hotel to friends and colleagues.
