The paths through the olive groves are truly wonderful and the history along the way is quite fascinating. Some of the olive trees are very old and were planted by the Romans! Daniele is very passionate about the area and the history. He brought us to a family owned Masseria to try and purchase some cheese. We stopped along the way for Daniele to point out special features and visited historic and working olive mills. Daniele is super nice, his English is great and he is very accomodating! The tour ended with a beautiful red sunset. We enjoyed the tour so much, we rented bikes for another day. Must do when you want to combine some activity with exploring the region and history of it!

Stayed a couple of hours there was so much to see and an excellent museum. Staff very helpful and if you time it right can join one of the free tours that explains some of the sites which stretch over the road. Bit of walking and a sun protection and water recommended

Having seen most of the sights in the Monopoli area we were looking for something to do for a couple of hours and so headed to the Scavi di Egnazia. We weren't expecting much from the photos, but they don't do the excavations justice. We were advised at the ticket office to

Being so used to Romans only it ws great to see some there perspective and get more explanation. I never knew there are typical female amphora/ jugs. Now I do. And I’m always impressed to see the wagontrails. Especially on the via Traiana as a shortcut for the via Appia.
