I do not understand what is special about this place. Very unconvenient rocky path, almost no place to take a good picture of the castle, because of scruffy park and tree branches covering the view here and there. But the most unpleasant this was that Rilke path is coved with dogs' poo. Dogs owners must remember that they should take... More

This is a lovely 2km walk along the cliff top from Duino castle to Sistiana. I am not normally good with heights but here the path is well-fenced. The views of the Gulf of Trieste and Duino castle are wonderful. In summer, when it is hot, there are trees bordering the path so it is sheltered. There is also a... More

Rainer Maria Rilke stayed at Castello di Duino and wakled these paths through the forest where he got the inspiration for his famous Duino Elegies. The views from the cliffs over entire gulf of Trieste and nearby castle is amazing. Do not miss it.

This path (sentiero) is at the same time typical of the Carst and of the sea side. The vegetation and the rocky environment are what you see in the whole area, but then the view on the Adriatic sea is unique. The place has two snags: 1) it has been chosen (too) many times by people who committed suicide as... More

It is nice to walk on the cliffs but it's not very special. Put on comfortable shoes because there are rocks on the way and it is sometimes slippery. There is also a bar along the way where you can take a drink and enjoy the views.

A nice top of the cliff walk running from Sistiana to Duino. It offers beautiful views on the gulf, city of Trieste, slovenian and croatian coast. On some segments you can also see the Duino castle which is found in the beginning or end of the path. There's also a small old military bunker from 1st world war who also... More

A wonderful place to be, but so much more could be done to give the visitor a feeling of what the place inspired in Rilke. There is too little information in English. The Duino Elegies are not available or exposed anywhere in English.

The German poet Rainer Maria Rilke who visited the Duino Castle 1910-11 walked this path every day, or so the story goes. The path is very nice but not all that easy to find. We enjoyed to take the time to walk and imagine what kind of thoughts Rilke might have had while watching the sea. However there is no... More
