This is the realization of one man's dream of recreating an extraordinary garden spot. It's especially appealing for children, who will love the creative and educational way of showing off his collection of birds and mammals (such as the rabbit obstacle course). It will help if you speak/read French, but that's not essential. The owner is the founder of the nearby horse museum, and he has included an outdoor theatre with a lovely stream as backdrop.

Delighted to have been diverted to the Garden on a free afternoon. There is an entry fee..€9.50 adults..and the visit takes about 2 hours to tour the entire garden. Be mindful that it is closed between 12pm and 2pm for lunch. The Garden features many small animals including various breeds of chickens, birds, sheep, goats, turkeys, deer, and pigs. The chickens and peacocks wander freely. Lovely trails to stroll and view ponds with large colorful carp , ducks, and swans. There are food and flower gardens decorated with lots of beautiful statuary. As there were not many visitors which I was there it was an extremely peaceful visit.

Me and my friends stayed 3 nights in Chantilly and after having visited the castle took a flyer about the Potager des Princes. We decided to visit the pzrc and were really happy we did it! It's a beautiful place, very peaceful, with farm animals ( there is a cute rabbit village☺), all kind of poultry and exotic birds, lovely goats...the comments are really interesting, even we, adults, learned many things about the animals, especially about the importance of the "coq" in all cultures. The demonstration of chicken race was funny and even more the chicken "concert". The rabbit race was another highlight...we were impressed by the demonstration of the border colley who managed to get the sheep wherever his boss told him....
The gardens are really well kept and so beautiful...the italian and japonese garden were our favorites. We took many pics on the romantic bridge.
The vegetable garden was impressing, only organic veggies, many beautiful flowers, statues...it was a great afternoon and we highly recommand the visit if this jewel.
Our special thanks to the staff who translated and explained in english..

A small garden between the chateau and village. Beautiful gardens with a variety of birds, caged and walking free. A must if visiting with children. An ornamental lake and a theatre that puts on shows. There is a wealth of information displayed around the park. Lovely spot.

A lovely mix of mini-zoo and gardens. We went off season in October, we can't wait to go back in warmer times; for a stroll and maybe just sitt on a bench a feel the time go by.
A real gem very near to the centre of Chantilly, not far from the Chateau de Chantilly either!! Will go back, just a must!

Very disappointed as the gardens were not as they were portrayed on the leaflet pictures or their own website. Most of the flowers/plants shown had been replaced with what looked like weeds or nothing at all. Animals did not look particularly well kept or have enough room to roam about. The demonstration of cockerels was late starting and not worth the wait; quite a few people lost interest and walked away as too long was taken getting every child to stroke the cockerels. The restaurant was closed and looked like it had been neglected and not open for years.

I didn't realize this was geared to children, but I had a ball watching rabbits racing, chickens too. Everything was beautiful and so well-cared for. I enjoyed every minute.

No visit to Chantilly is complete without visiting this gorgeous garden. At its best in late Summer I feel, but I've also been in September too. It is simply inspirational for any gardener, & for children, it's is a wonderland for wildlife & some performing rabbits too! A real treat for the family!

Not sure when the pictures of Potage Princes were taken, but since then, the gardens have taken a massive nosedive.
Finding words to describe it are not easy but the following spring to mind: tatty, untidy, neglected, messy, decrepit, shabby, unkempt and unloved.
Rather spend the time in the Chateau Chantilly gardens, which are not only quite stunning but so large and beautifully maintained you can easily spend several wonderful hours there!

would this spot good to visit when we arrive in Chantilly? We arrive at 9am but can't get into our accommodation until 4pm. Would there be anywhere there to leave our luggage to save us carrying it around all day?
Written July 1, 2015
Good morning and thank you to come and visit our parc. The garden opens at 10. am so if you arrive at 9 am, the doors will be closed. It's possible for you to let us your luggage but maybe il would be easier to let these at your hotel. Thank you and see you soon.
