Cultural and research centre
Aug 2020
The Alsion Centre is on the other side of the river from Sonderborg's old town. It contains several cafes, a cultural centre, a research centre and offices. There's a striking silver architectural model outside that you can go inside.

Incredible concert hall
Sep 2018 • Friends
I attended an event at Alsion in September and was blown away by the facility.

The sound and visual experience from this venue was second to none, and any performance here will look like a million dollars as a result.

Stunning views over the river and great on site food and beverage facilities too make for a great experience.

more than a modern university building
Jun 2017 • Business
It is a great place to study and to visit. One could quickly notice that it is very much 'student centered' with a lots of space for reading and group discussions. Alsion is not only a university, it also has a concert hall, very nice kantine (more of a restaurant level than a students' fast food) as well as a clean room - one could see from outside how researchers work and develop nano structures. Next to Alsion one could also seat on the grass and enjoy the view as well as go for a walk down to the 'large bridge' and admire the Scandinavian architecture.- houses there must be quite expensive.

Spent 6 months at this university. Beautiful and modern building with amazing views overlooking the sea. Decent sized library with very comfortable seats.

There is a canteen that sold buffet style lunch with menus changing every Monday to Thursday with leftovers on Fridays. The canteen has a good variety of cheese, fresh salad and yummy bread. During summer, they serve more seafood and it is highly recommended to try! They rarely have rice available and I have not seen them serve noodles so sometimes I don't feel full even after eating a lot (First world Asian problems). The pricing is really affordable as they charge by weight and my average plate cost around 20 to 25 DKK while my friends usually pay around 40 DKK for theirs.

Just a Building
Jun 2016 • Friends
I had an interest in this building only because my son will be studying there. It is a nice building, but I am not sure that I would make an effort to see it. They do have entertainment, but we did not see any shows. It is on the waterfront with nice views.

Top shelf concert hall
Aug 2015 • Couples
Alsion is a great idea to include several functions under the same roof: a branch of South Denmark University, a (upcoming) business school, small business rent one or several offices - and last but not least THE GRAND ALSION CONCERT HALL. The latter is the jewel in the crown, having one of Europe's best acustics for classical music. Olafur Eliasson has created the concert hall's exteriour, "Music Wall" and the scukpture "Pavillion" facing the water, Alssund.
