Lovely, unexpected gem!

Came across Bokrijk by accident and didn't really know what it was. Very pleased we found it. A lovely museum set out as a traditional village. Spent the whole day wandering from... read more

The vast Bokrijk Open-Air Museum is located in splendid and green surroundings, excellent for bike tours and hikes. The museum itself contains more than 100 perfectly restored historical buildings carefully taken apart all over Flanders, transported to Bokrijk, and rebuilt on-site. Over a vast area you can walk around from section to section and discover at your own pace the... More

The price is 12.50 Euros per adult and the place is huge. Get ready to walk a long way from section to section. The signage was not clear and at the end we figured out that we had missed the interactive area. We did stop to have a snack at the sit down area and despite table service we were... More

Take all the old builds from cities, farms and ports that have lasted since the 1300's and you have Openluchtmuseum. Walk through a park that has all that Flemish life has in a child friendly open air museum. Love this place. Spend the whole day with family.

In order to see the whole park quite a bit of walking is required but if you get to go on a sunny day it's ok. The exibitions are quite interesting and in some of the buildings you may find some 'local inhabitants' in costume going about their daily chores. We were lucky enough walk into one of the homes... Yes, the open air museum is amazing and well worth doing but if you have children the play park is just outstanding! The website really doesn't show it at its full glory so I think anyone visiting the area from outside Belgium may miss out. You should park at the castle car park (Parking 1 Kasteel) and pay 5 euros... More

We made the mistake of going on November 2 and ended up in a Halloween festival swarmed with kids. They were having a fabulous time, but the houses were locked up and we didn't get to see anything.

Bokrijk is something you have to do once in your life. I've been here more than once. It's nice to see how the houses were before.

It would take a book to describe this open air museum. Complete villages dating fromm1700 too1900 have been reconstructed with original farm houses, they were taken into pieces and reconstructed in the museum. During the summer period the villages are maned by trained volunteers performing the work and crafts of that time. All houses are equipped with furniture from a... More

Came across Bokrijk by accident and didn't really know what it was. Very pleased we found it. A lovely museum set out as a traditional village. Spent the whole day wandering from house to house, lots of interesting things to look at and interesting information. Even our 12 and 9 year olds found it interesting to read all or the... More
