If you’re in or near the northwestern state of Al Jouf, it well worth a visit to Marid Castle which dates back to the third century AD. Omar Mosque and the Archeological Museum are located at the site.

This is a highlight of the Al Jouf area and worth spending some time visiting the old fort and the lower old village leading to the palm trees. A majestic building unlike anything else in Saudi

A great example of an Arabic fort, it is being restored in a sympathetic manner as are the surrounding buildings. It is a reasonably large fort. It is in the town, so you have plenty of places to eat.
