We stopped by because they have artisan fairs on Sunday (turns out it was the off Sunday) but we learned a lot about the island and was worth seeing.

The block island historical society museum has the history and artifacts of the island. It’s a nice diversion from the beach.

Every Sunday there is a small crafts fair in the lawn around the building. Friendly helpful staff. Interesting artifacts as well as souvenirs many with images from the past including sturdy mugs, T Sheets, note cards, postcards, honey from the local farm, Worth the visit

This is a small museum entirely run by local volunteers. The collection is varied and consists of a combination of furniture and treasures donated from old homes, artifacts from digs and local history buffs, and old photos and maps, a wonderful look into Block Island...More

The entire Society was not able to be seen. We were only able to visit 2 rooms. Perhaps you should go later in the season to take advantage of the entire building?
