The Great Salt Pond is really like a huge estuary with both fresh and salt water creatures and flora coexisting. Since it's got an inlet from the ocean, is serves as a harbor for some types of sight-seeing boats, too. Lots of wildlife to see, especially bigger birds like herons. On some portions of the shoreline are commercial properties--bars and... More

No matter whether you go by sail or motorboat or just paddle around in one of the kayaks that are for rent, this body of water is amazing. Oyster beds, beaches, clamming, fishing or just wandering about through the huge number of boats that are at anchor, on a mooring or in one of the marinas, the Pond is a... More

We rented a pontoon boat and went all over Great Salt Pond. It was tons of fun being able to get so close to all the other boats and some sights!

What an awesome day! We went kayaking with 4 adults and loved it! It's small enough to kayak the pond in an afternoon and really cool to weave through all the house boats docked. It was really fun!

I'm glad I went but didn't consult the tide charts. Go at low tide for a more extensive walk and/or wear water shoes and shorts to wade through the shallow waters.

Beautiful, many restaurants with good food and water views. Bike riding was the best way to get around. Kayaking, sailing, fishing

Park at the coastguard station and walk down to the beach, cross the jetty and continue to Charleston Beach. This was a beautiful walk. We saw seals, great driftwood and lots of birds.
