Like a dream
Oct 2021
It’s like some kind of mad and beautiful dream, where peeking around every corner is another rich man’s Knick knack! Gorgeous day out and would also be suitable for kids. We went in autumn and the colours of the trees were amazing, but would be equally beautiful in summer.

Well worth a visit but prebook if not a member

A beautiful landscape garden. We enjoyed our walk in lovely sunshine. Although it was pretty busy once you were in the garden is huge and there was plenty of space for all.

Beautiful park
Oct 2021 • Couples
Beautiful park set in the heart of cobham village - the park is beautiful stunning location views landmarks and a lovely walk especially in autumn ! There’re is a rope walk taking you round the park so you do t miss the attractions - it’s very well cared for there is a small cafe for hot drinks and a shop good parking
However my inky criticism we booked online on the morning before travelling over 2 hrs to get there when we arrive the grotto the main attraction which we had come to see was closed this should have been updated on the website as we would have driven there another day - also when we arrived the main red route was flooded so you couldn’t do half that walk and we should have Eve been advised of this when entering the park
However we had enjoyable walk and i would hubby recommend a visit

60th Birthday Surprise - Prosecco Afternoon Tea
Jul 2021
What a gem of a place this is! I surprised my partner Phil with a trip to Painshill planned around the Prosecco afternoon tea as it was his 60th birthday on the day we visited in July 2021. Kerry, the Food and Beverage Manager was so helpful as the very day I wanted to book there were no available slots online. This was a technical error and Kelly managed to confirm my booking and give me peace of mind about the surprise. Her communication was spot on and the afternoon tea was fantastic! She went above and beyond to ensure we had the best experience and I can't thank her enough for that. Afternoon tea was served in the Abercorn Room which was small and personal and there were only 4 other couples having afternoon tea. Staff were friendly and welcoming and all in all it was a great experience. Cakes and sandwiches were so delicious!

Prior to the tea, we walked around the grounds. There is so much to see at Painshill and it's very well maintained. We particularly loved the Crystal Grotto. The price of the afternoon tea includes entrance to the grounds and there was lots of free parking available. We stayed about 3.5 hours in total.

This place is amazing and I'd definitely recommend a visit. Thank you Painshill for making Phil's 60th birthday special.

Worth the money

Great for a place to walk around lots to see. Plenty of room for adults and kids to roam.
Will go back as it was nice to see at a different time of the year

Beautifully restored Gardens
Sep 2021
With river Mole running through the park which has been carefully and thoughtfully restored almost to original design of 18th century. The park is full of surprises and delights the eye with follies. The view from the Turkish tent is stunning at this time of year. The Gothic Temple which is made of wood to look like its is stone provides great views of the grassy sloped bank of the lake with the Five Arched Bridge at the end of the lake. Would like to come back during different seasons.

Enjoyable visit
Sep 2021 • Couples
First visit here as we normally visit our favourite NT places but fancied a change.
Admission was £9 each including a concession for us oldies and worth it in my opinion.
Car park was well staffed and no worse than some NT parking but could be tricky for wheelchairs.
Beautiful park with plenty to see and easy walks but again could be challenging for disabled folk.
We were blessed with a sunny day and plenty of seats dotted around to enjoy the view from.
Bit disappointed with the cafe, relatively expensive and not very imaginative offerings. We would take a picnic if we visited again. Plenty of seating for eating and drinking but a short walk from the cafe, bit tricky with scalding cups of tea in paper cups!
Of course there is mo grand house to visit so once you have seen the park, unless you want to make a day of it, then 2-3 hours is probably enough.
The lake did have a toxic bloom of algae so pet owners beware!

Picturesque walk
Aug 2021 • Couples
This is a little gem that was recommended to us! Amazing scenic walk with lots of beautiful opportunities for pictures! It was so well maintained.. would only say that would be nice to have coffee shop and toilets along the walk for those who need a break!
Definitely well worth the visit and will be recommending to others.

At last we went
Aug 2021
As might be deduced, we are fairly local yet had never visited Painshill Park. We at last decided that for once we would not drive past but would actually go there.

This really is a lovely park. We walked the 'historic route' which is clearly marked on the complimentary maps that are provided. There are a number of interesting sites and beautiful views over the unspoilt Surrey countryside. Staff were friendly with volunteer guides interested to know what we thought and tell us a bit more about the place. The catering is a bit basic though here too the staff are friendly - and the coffee is good. There is a well appointed area where one can have one's lunch, whether purchased from the cafe or not. We greatly enjoyed our visit and wondered why we had stayed away for so long.

I would have awarded a five-score were it not for the fact that pre-booking is necessary . We accepted that this was necessary for most attractions during earlier phases of the pandemic but it was something of a pain as it removed any spontaneity of decision taking and one could not be sure of the weather if booking days ahead (though to be fair we were able to book Painshill for the next day, so could be fairly sure of the weather). Now that the nearby Wisley RHS Gardens, as well as the National Trust and English Heritage, have dispensed with this requirement, I would have thought Painshill could do so as well?

Disabled Wheelchair user
Aug 2021 • Couples
As an able bodied person I enjoyed the walks on previous visits. And I actually would return again. The staff seem very friendly.

This visit I was with a wheelchair user, as it’s listed as accessible and I was able to reserve a wheelchair with ease. However we couldn’t get any further than the tea shop near the entrance.

The start of the ‘accessible’ path is not very accessible, too many potholes. I would say it’s actually quite dangerous with the quality of the hired wheelchair. There is a road you could take but it has road bumps to slow the traffic, again with the hired wheelchair, it’s not good, comfortable or safe.

I do appreciate that you can reserve a wheelchair at no extra cost. I also imagine if you have your own quality wheelchair that you are familiar with, it may not be too much bother to get past the road bumps, pot holes and inclines.

The cafe currently only has outside seating with deep wood chip/bark.

The disables toilet facilities were good.

The exit was awful, downward slope with deep holes. Just plain dangerous.

I suspect that it’s more accessible once you get past the initial section but can you really call yourself accessible if you hit a literal road block before you even get into the park?
