Nice while it lasted
Jul 2020 • Couples
Check before you go. It's being closed at end of July and no-one knows when it's reopening... if it is. Shame cos it was a lovely place for a coffee.

NICE WALLED GARDEN
Aug 2019
This is an ancient walled garden where numerous events are held there such as film events.
It has a shop and cafe which sells drinks and food that is mainly light snacks.
There is more than sufficient parking on site.

Parking fine lunacy
Sep 2019
Just had to pay the parking fine. My wife duly paid for parking, but not within the 20min period (28 mins it was). They enforce by camera, so be careful. Was thinking of going to photograph the sign showing this, but the thought of giving them more money stopped me.

This is legal robbery.

Parking Fine!
Aug 2019 • Friends
I totally agree with your other customers comments about the parking charges which are now in operation at The Medicine Garden! I too had to pay a £60 fine even though I appealed it. Although I have now paid the £60 I have since written a letter to Civil Enforcement Ltd complaining.

I too have previously visited the Medicine Garden on several occasions & on this particular day, last August, I was not aware of the parking charges there now. I was waiting for some friends who I’d recommended the Medicine Garden to & to my shock when they arrived they pointed out that we needed to buy a parking ticket!

A couple of weeks later I received a parking fine of £60! Apparently the company said I had been parked there for over 20 minutes without paying so fined me even though I actually bought a ticket once I realised. They sent me no scanned copy of my ticket and inferred that I had not paid for the whole duration I was parked there! This is disgusting!

Unfortunately, because of the parking charges, I will not be visiting or recommending the Medicine Garden to friends again which is such a shame as it is such a lovely place to visit🙁

Parking charges Disappointed!!
Aug 2019
I am a local who has lived in Cobham for 8 years and have always used the medicine gardens. I am very disappointed that they have implemented paid for parking, however it was fine and I paid the fee, after waiting what was nearly half hour to be served in the coffee shop I returned to the car and went home. My husband then went their the next day to take the kids to the play area and get a coffee and returned home having also paid the parking fee. We went on holiday for 2 weeks and when returning found two parking charges from the medicine gardens parking supplier waiting for us, one was for me being 2 mins over and one where the machine did not recognise my husbands registration number, these fines where for £120 each so £240 in total - WELL THAT WAS AN EXPENSIVE COFFEE!! I then disputed them and had them reduced down to £60 each but as we had thrown out the receipts we were unsuccessful and had to pay £120.
I will not be using the medicine gardens again as this parking fine is ridiculous!! it should never be £60 in the first place it should be a deter ant not making you pay for a machine that doesn't recognise your registration. Please be careful when going there that you also don't get stung with the fine. I would like this information to be fed back to the owner of the medicine gardens as I think they need to re consider this and the wait times in the coffee shop making people late back to cars etc

Very disappointed
Sep 2019 • Friends
Really disappointed with my visit on Monday. I begrudgingly I ate what must have been the world's most expensive toasties. I had two coffees while I was there and both my mugs were chipped way beyond what's acceptable. The cafe totally lacks character now, such a shame as it used to be really sweet in there. And all but one of the shops was shut. So all in all it was a really disappointing visit and I think it will be a while til I visit again. Having to pay for parking now was the final straw - I'm not sure what I was paying for!

Parking problems
Aug 2019
My daughter also got caught for a parking fine as the signage was so poor that they didn’t see it until leaving and it has always previously been free. As others say, complete rip off to charge for field parking on top of high prices at the cafe/shops. Definitely a way of alienating the local community who have been so supportive of them.

Someone has made a lot of money in the last month or so but will ultimately lose business.

Disappointed, not coming back
Sep 2019 • Friends
I live not far from Medicine garden and meet some friends there for breakfast or lunch sometimes.
I was shocked to receive a parking fine today (£100 reduced to £60 if paid within 14 days). I’m not sure when this has been introduced but I am beyond shocked. If I was aware that’s this has become “pay and display” I would have certainly paid. The owners must be making fortune from unaware visitors.

I always endeavour to support local businesses but this is new parking system is unjust and smells of greed. Put clear signage about paid parking please!

Not coming back there again.

Disappointing
Sep 2019 • Family
Not sure when the cafe changed hands as used to be the hothouse cafe but now is mamas kitchen. Service was awful with a large queue despite being relatively quiet at the garden, no one clearing tables and 1 person serving while the other tried to keep up with minimal food orders (it was not busy at all compared to previous visits). Food was a let down too as not very good. Took about 30 minutes to finally receive 3 relatively simple meals. Had a quick look around the disappointing shops behind the cafe - cocktail bar that is rarely open and doesn’t suit the rural surroundings, a few shops that were filled with expensive tat and nothing of any real substance.

Parking charges for a country coffee shop? Seriously!
Sep 2019
I enjoy cycling to the Medicine Garden. But my last visit was a disaster. My first shock was to see that parking charges (£1 for an hour) had been introduced. This I should point out is for a rutted uneven stony patch of land which can easily hold 50 cars for the single cafe and 2 or 3 craft shops. The site is in the countryside and nowhere near any other shops or services. A ridiculous way to alienate and drive down your customer base. Not to worry I'm on my bike and need some refreshment after a long ride. In the cafe I waited in line and waited ... waited ... waited. The queue didn't move for 15 minutes and no one semed bothered. Priority seemed to be in stacking cups and tidying up. I decided to leave. After browsing the crafts and going to the loo, I returned to my bike to head off home only to see the same queue immobile and waiting for service. I don't know whether there has been a change of ownership, but this is a business heading for closure.
