We went to the "boating lake" thinking it would be a lake where you rented rowing boats, but it was not that sort of lake.
Instead it was a lake that model boats where sailed.
Which was ok and nice to watch, and relax in one of the lakeside seats.
Plenty of ducks and geese to see, and you could fish around the lake.
A nice walk around the lake, with a couple of short trails also to do, before you head back to the café at the lake side.
The only down side was the lack of waste bins around the lake, with only bins at the two roadside enterances, which were badly overflowing.

The new management has much improved the cafe excellent food - good portions very well cooked. Friendly staff. Seems to be very popular despite the foul weather that seems to have been constant since they opened.

Prior to the recent change of 'management' at the cafe I have never had cause to complain, the staff recognised me and even knew my order (pretty much the same every visit) and the food was always freshly prepared and the service very good. Sadly in the last couple of months all that has changed. The food (apparently still freshly prepared) has started to take a lot longer to arrive at your table, I have also had incomplete orders and today no order at all. My 2 companions had finished their breakfast when the order for the couple behind me was announced. I immediately asked for a refund, as I no longer had time to consume a breakfast, and the serving staff (who as I walked in had been telling her mates about how efficient she was) refunded me the wrong amount. But I did get a free cup of tea. No apology from the manager who was present and no chance of me ever returning.

Despite the fact that the toilet facilities stink, the fishing here is mad! There's giant Roach, Rudd, Perch, Carp, Bream, Tench - A Coarse Angler's dream! Whip or waggler is a good tactic for the Roach, Rudd, Perch and Skimmers, and feeder near the island is also good for Carp. Biggest Carp in the lake is up to 30lbs!

We visited with 3 young children to feed the ducks. A pleasant short walk around what is more of a pond really. A couple of children's play areas - one by the cafe - very convenient if you want a coffee as the kids can play there and you can sit out side the safe to keep an eye on them. Cafe very reasonably priced. Lots of dog walkers about. Seemed to be well equipped for fishermen - not a boat in sight.

Clean and restful to just sit by the water and pass the time. You can feed the ducks or walk the dog through the nearby woods or take a load off with tea and cake at the on site cafe. Very pleasant.

We were looking for somewhere to take my Grandaughter for lunch. After going through the usual list we decided on the boating lake, mainly because it was nearby.

Well what a lovely surprise we got, lovely and clean, nice furniture and polite staff. We had a snack with drinks which was very reasonably priced and came in Corby Scotch rolls which I love. We then had a walk round the lake, park etc.

Will definitely be back as it's an ideal place for lunch with or without kids.
