About
Dragonara Casino, the number one casino in Malta, is owned and operated by Dragonara Gaming Limited. The Dragonara Casino is housed within the majestic Dragonara Palace and has been operating since 1964 offering a unique gaming and entertainment destination 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The Dragonara Casino is conveniently located within the St. Julian’s are featuring 250 slot machines, 15 live tables, a premier poker room overlooking the St. George’s Bay, a VIP-Lounge for high-roller private gaming, a Sports Lounge and one of Malta’s top rated restaurants. Dragonara Gaming Limited took over the operation of the Dragonara Casino in 2010 and since then has invested over €25 Million in the property. The Casino underwent a major investment upgrade project earlier in 2016 propelling the property into the ranks of the most prestigious and pristine gaming properties in the Mediterranean. Situated on the tip of the ‘Tad-Dragun’ promontory in St Julian’s the Dragonara Palace is one of Malta’s most extraordinary and imposing private properties built in the classical style almost as a grand romantic folly. Built in 1870 as the summer residence of the Marquis Scicluna the Dragonara Palace opened as Malta’s first Casino in 1964. The Dragonara Casino was one of the first major projects to establish Malta as a prime tourist destination. The Palace is a landmark property in Malta surrounded by a colonnaded veranda that abuts directly onto the sea. It retains many of the original architectural and interior design features, which have been successfully adapted to the requirements of casino patrons.

This is a very strange casino. Walked in one day to see what they offered and the ladies on the reception couldn’t/wouldn’t tell me what was inside I.e. what tables which I found odd and they instead asked me to go to their website. Returned on another day to go and gamble and their security stopped us and asked for flight info of when we arrived before we registered and went in. They have smoking rooms for slots and tables but the main action was in the main hall where smoking isn’t allowed. The good news is I left in profit after a good run on the black jack tables but despite that I won’t be back

Has to be the best Casino in Malta.

A healthy sized bar in the middle with tables to it’s right and slots to it’s left.

There are smoking rooms with slots and a smaller one with a few tables within.

Reasonable service but you can feel that the staff are a little worn and tired. All trying their best but you get the air that they’re being over worked.

Nonetheless, a lovely Casino. 24H

This palatial looking building looked promising from the outside. Staff upon entry were polite and smart. Inside however the casino was full of people (mainly men) in their late teens wearing beachwear while hogging the game tables. It let the atmosphere of the place down slightly. Tea, coffee and soft drinks were delivered to you free of charge. Get a smart/casual dress code as part of the entry policy and it would have been great.

We entered the Casino only to look around and have some lunch. Very friendly front desk security. As a first timer you have to show ID, get registered in the computer, and show COVID proof of vaccination.

Once inside, we found it was smoke free. We found the restaurant, there is only one. The Brasserie has both indoor and extensive outdoor seating which is right on the ocean.

There is a full bar and a decent menu. Each of us had a breaded chicken burger. They were huge. They came with lots of fresh salad toppings and a side of French fries. The price of only 10 euros is the most affordable we have seen in our week in Valletta. We each had a glass of the house white wine. It was so tasty and at 3.20 euros you can't afford to not have two.
The Casino is built in former palace. Check out the photo of the ceiling in the restaurant. Remarkable.

The Casino rates itself as the best Casino in Malta. Rubbish. The service is terrible. Asked the waitress for a drink which took 35 minutes to arrive. Beer was less than 1/2 pint and then we were charged €3.10 each. This is the first time I have ever had to pay for a drink in a casino.
I don’t mind paying for a drink but I expect better service and a pint..
Shan’t bother going there again.

Locals recommended this casino..saying it’s one of the best...well it’s not. When I got there with my friends, already at the door the staff was incredibly rode, and not helpful at all. They didn’t even say hello, but just literally shouted (with their poor English) “DOCUMENTS”..that was welcoming us, people who were about to leave money there. After the long registration, we walked in. Had a walk around inside but immediately left. Inside the casino there are some machines, a bar and only a couple of tables where u can play. Other then that it had a bad atmosphere..bright lightings..almost no music..staff smoking outside at the entrance(not professional at all) such a poor place. Waste of time.

Poor management. We where 12 guys going to play at their poker tournament on a friday. I called on advance 3 times from home to ensure that there where one. Got a hold of the poker manager the third time and he arrogantly confirmed my request
So we all flew to Malta and turned up friday to play just to be told that there only where 15 seats and 9 where taken. Why the h... couldnt he have told me that when I call
Amateur casino. Mostly slot machines. Cannot say anything positive about this place except for the view. But if they in any way could find at way to ruin that also, they would.
The english is poor from the staff
Dont ever go there.

I visited the Dragonara after visiting three other casinos in Malta over the space of a week and I have to say that it is the most beautiful of all four. However, the staff were quite rude and ignorant (apart from the lady on reception) and it was impossible to get a drink. I had heard it is nice to have a drink on the terrace during a break in gambling but unfortunately I never got the opportunity. Decided to leave and return to one of the other friendlier casinos, which is a shame as I really wanted to like the Dragonara.
I'm not sure what they could do to get me to return.

Do not believe the ludicrous positive reviews on here or you will also regret it.

On holiday in Malta and searched online for nearby casinos.
Made the horrendous mistake of choosing this casino over others.

On reception, I agree with others, the staff are the most unwelcoming I have ever met - no smiles or friendly welcome - this should have been our first sign to leave!

On entering we noticed the vast majority of patrons were local Maltese elderly people.
As we approached the 1euro roulette table this was very crowded with all chairs taken and nowhere for us to place bets. On closer observation it was clear that some people were sitting at the table observing and not even placing any bets. This was frustrating as we had chips and were wanting to place bets. Plus there was a clear sign stating that seats around the table were for those people placing bets only - the casino does nothing to enforce their OWN rules.

Anyway we decided to play on the next roulette table which had higher bets of 2euro, until the 1euro table became less congested. We played for a few bets and it was ok but the dealer was clearly flustered throughout even though there were only a few players. She annoyed us considerably however when my other half mistaken placed a 2euro bet on the second group of numbers and she threw the roulette and we won, BUT it was a minimum 5 euro bet so she took our 2euro chip even though she should have told us at the time of our bet that we needed to increase our bet!!!!!!!!!! Outrageous

We left at this point to try to go to the 1euro table again. We found a small space on the table and tried to get the dealer's attention to signal we would like to play - he ignored us. The other patrons around the table were all local Maltese people who were all very rude and aggressive about their territorial space aound the table, so we left the table

Ar this point I asked a nearby waitress if it would be possible to kindly get us two glasses of plain water. This rude woman looked at us, said "ok", and continued chatting to another staff member for another five minutes - we eventually went and got our drinks ourselves once I had located the bar.

We found the Pit manager, a dark curly haired lady and asked her if she could help us sit and play at the 1euro roulette table. She walked over with us but even when explained that many people around the table were spectators and that we were actually interested in placing bets, she mentioned something briefly to the dealer and walked off again. The dealer again did nothing about this.

At this point we had enough and cashed in our chips and left.
Horrible experience and wasted precious evening of our hard-earned holiday :(

We found another casino on our way home Portomaso Casino - completely amazing service, friendly staff who know how to smile. smaller casino but they had the brains to have more roulette tables than horrendous Draganara, which was actually the bigger casino out of the two

In summary my advice is AVOID this casino if you are not from malta - the staf seem to be racist or something because they look after the people from Malta only.
If you are a tourist go to Portomaso Casino instead which is a one minute walk from this awful place

Went to Dragonara Casino earlier this evening. Greeted by very large and very rude door man. Very slow queue outside in the rain to get in to reception to register. Gave up after half an hour. Seems that they don’t want our money! Retired to the beautiful lounge bar in the Westin Hotel for Gin & Tonics. Not sure how this casino can make any money, but it certainly doesn’t deserve mine!
