We went to The Fish Lounge after passing it on the street. Itās a very interesting experience having the fish nibble on your feet, but a fun one.
Staff is very friendly and the establishment is very clean. Recommended!

I've always wanted to do a pedicure with fish and here we are! The prices are not bad at all (9-12-15ā¬ respectively for 10-20-30min) and the feeling is amazing.
The place should be kept a bit better but it's clean and there's wifi.
The girl who attended us was really nice and kind.

On our first night in Malta we walked in to see this place.
I had seen the same thing when we were in Amsterdam, however the salon there was upstairs. I could not really see anything except the sign.
Here, we walked in and Laura, who is the manager / owner we think, was just finishing up a clients feet.
I have wanted to try this for over 3 years, this was my chance!
Not until 4 days later which made it the night before we left Malta.
I chose the 30 minute treatment, with the "largest fish" they are still small!
With complete care I had my feet inspected for any cuts, scratches or open wounds. Then my feet were washed and put into 'shower caps' for feet so I could walk over to the tank with the fish.
I spoke with the couple sitting next to me a lawyer and his girl friend from Germany. My husband chose not to join in the fun but did enjoy talking to the couple from Italy who were fish deep with their feet.
The feeling is described as fish "kissing" the feet. To me it felt like a very light vibration. I liked it! It was very different then a pedicure. This process actually lets the fish eat ( they have NO teeth), so it it more of a very light sucking of the skin.
This is a very upbeat place playing great music and conversations all around.
A very friendly place with Laura who enjoys the reactions from her customers, return customers and even the people who walk by and check it out. Many of them are like us and come back.
I would highly recommend treating yourself to this experience!!!
You WILL be glad you did.
There is a time schedule and price schedule to fit any budget.
I will definitely do it again, when I next encounter The Fish Lounge.
If this was helpful to you, let others know with the thumbs up.

I'm writing this on behalf of my husband who has been on numerous occasions and thinks the treatment is great. He would recommend it to everyone and goes on about how good his feet feel after it. I'll take his word for it!

Have been thinking about trying a fish spa for ages, but never quite got organised to do it. Walking back from Spinola Bay to St George after dinner we saw this place and thought why not!
It's very professional- your feet are washed and checked before (I had a small cut on my ankle I didn't know about and it was well-protected).
Then you sit in your individual tank and the fish start feasting. The OH found it a bit tickly for the first few minutes but then it was fine. If you're used to having pedicures it won't bother you.
We took the 20 min treatment for 13 euro each but it was so good we extended for an extra 10 min for just a little bit more.
Results were good, it was really fun to do, and as a previous review said they do sell great earrings!
P.s. they also have free WiFi so if you want to live update on your fishy experience you can āŗāŗāŗ

I had to go with my girl there. She wanted to try it for the first time and so did i.
The woman was very friendly. After washing and checking our feet, we went to one of the fish seats. The fishes were tickling us in the first moments but after that it was just relaxing. There was no worry about pain, injuries or hygiene issues. In the end my soles were indeed remarkable smoother. Price was good.

Our fish lover son absolutely wanted to try and loved it. Very funny experience, we just did it once, so unsure about the impact, but well worth a try!

I got a fish pedicure in the fish lounge on holidays recently. Afterwards I spoke to friends and told them i had it done. They said they wouldn't do it as you can pick up infections like hepatitis c and hiv if someone else has this has used the same tank and spread it on to the fish. I had no idea and taught this was safe and bit of fun. I would like to know how true this is as I am very worried?

Here's what the CDC has to say:
What is a fish pedicure?
A fish pedicure, also known as a fish spa, involves patrons dipping their feet in a tub of water filled with small fish called Garra rufa. Garra rufa are sometimes referred to as ādoctor fishā because they eat away dead skin found on peoplesā feet, leaving newer skin exposed.
Garra rufa are native to the Middle East, where they have been used as a medical treatment for individuals with skin diseases, like psoriasis (1). One study has illustrated the effectiveness of fish pedicures in the treatment of psoriasis; however, this treatment was performed in a controlled setting at a medical university in Austria, not at a nail salon (2).
CDC is not aware of any published reports on illnesses resulting from fish pedicures. Nail salon foot baths, however, have caused outbreaks of nontuberculous mycobacterial infections that left infected pedicure customers with boils and scars (3).
Why have some states banned the use of fish pedicures?
Each state has the authority to ban fish pedicures. Currently, over 10 states have banned the use of fish pedicures.
Most of the bans are based on at least one of the following reasons:
ā¢The fish pedicure tubs cannot be sufficiently cleaned between customers when the fish are present.
ā¢The fish themselves cannot be disinfected or sanitized between customers. Due to the cost of the fish, salon owners are likely to use the same fish multiple times with different customers, which increases the risk of spreading infection.
ā¢Chinese Chinchin, another species of fish that is often mislabeled as Garra rufa and used in fish pedicures, grows teeth and can draw blood, increasing the risk of infection.
ā¢According to the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, Garra rufa could pose a threat to native plant and animal life if released into the wild because the fish is not native to the United States.
ā¢Fish pedicures do not meet the legal definition of a pedicure.
ā¢Regulations specifying that fish at a salon must be contained in an aquarium.
ā¢The fish must be starved to eat skin, which might be considered animal cruelty.
