My husband and I hired an RS Vision for the day from Fairwind Sailing. The owner was incredibly knowledeable, friendly and happy to help. When we came back into the harbour at the end of the day he even let us play a game with some of the newbies he was instructing and he certainly has a good sense of humour! If we were here for longer I would definitely have some lessons (husband is the sailor).

There are a selection of boats, all in excellent condition and obviously lifejackets etc... Prices are very reasonable (but dependent on the boat of course).

We mainly communicated via phone/text to set up the booking and decide on the day (we had to wait for the wind to die down). Being able to send a text in the evening made things really easy for us and they were very flexible.

Hi There , If you're thinking of visiting Malta and want to try sailing, the best sailing centre is Fairwind Sailing operates from Portomaso Marina . St Julians.
The instructors are very friendly and experienced. The sea is very clean, and the sailing area is just on the Sliema / St. Julians seafront. Several boats to choose from according to one's sailing ability. Also provides Yacht charters taking visitors to Blue Lagoon or Gozo.
Several courses to choose from at every level covered by RYA certification.

We spent a memorable day on a chartered small yacht with skipper Paul - two adults and three teenagers. We all thoroughly enjoyed the experience - spent time in the Blue Lagoon's crystal clear water and explored life underwater and swam into the nearby caves Amazing ! Paul cooked up a lovely lunch and all soft drinks ,snacks and wine are included in the price - also use of snorkelling equipment. The teens were delighted to help Paul , a very competent skipper , to anchor the boat and help with sails etc
You feel at home on the boat and can use the cabins for a lazy afternoon snooze!
Good value for money and highly recommended by all of us including teenagers who can be sometimes hard to please !
Thank you so much Paul for a wonderful day and we all hope to return again😎

If you are completely new to sailing or windsurfing and want to learn; you are at the perfect place!

Not only are Paul and his team very experienced, knowledgeable and talented sailors, they are just as talented in teaching as well. Absolutely great instructors!

I tried out both sailing and windsurfing few days and they got me hooked. As soon as I was back in UK after my first experience I planned a second trip, which I am going to next week. Cant wait to be back in the sea with these guys.

Taking Level 1 sailing beginner class, Paul did a great jobs explaining theories and exercises easily. The first lesson is one-on-one teaching and the fallowing lessons were in a small group(3-4 person). The course is RYA certified and Paul takes pictures for you to keep the experience in memory. (:
The two helpers, Matthew and George, did a great job helping embark the boats and teaching knots.
Thanks a lot for this instructive and relaxing experience!

Best wishes
Julia

The school is ran by Paul. Paul has plenty years of sailing experience and is a true professional. I took the hobby catamaran out of his sailing selection and I had so much fun. It is worth taking Paul onboard if you are a beginner. He raised my confidence level a lot and I am on the sea on my own now. The views to St Jillian's Bay are magnificent from the sea. A great place to go and learn to sail - at democratic prices too. I will definitely be back!
While I was doing 2 to 3 hours of sailing a day, I had plenty of time visiting the town as well as Valletta. Getting around by bus is easy. I did not bother renting a car and I am pleased I didn't. Just no way to park.

Highly recommended. Paul arranged a 3 day sailing trip from M'Sida marina to Marsamemi and Syracuse in Sicily on his Elan 333. If you are looking for an eye opening few days, then this would tick all boxes. From learning the basics of sailing, beautiful blue seas, sleeping onboard, pulling into marinas and then walking around 2 beautiful towns. It is not luxury, but is probably on many people's bucket lists. Ideal for a group of friends.
