Very beautiful panoramic walk. 6 km of path with sea view, surrounded by vegetation. Well served with benches and toilets. Really pleasant, suitable for all ages. I will definitely go back.

This is the third year in a row that we're visiting Cap D'Ail and each time we walk the pedestrian path along the water, it's like falling in love for the first time. This is the perfect setting to bring back romance into your life! The contrast between the blue azure of the ocean and the sun-bleached white rocks is enough to make you want to take out brush and canvass and start painting. Make sure to bring a camera. There are a number of ways to access this beautiful sentier. You can park your car at the Cap D'Ail train station and walk down some steps, just follow the pedestrian signs. You can reach it through narrow lanes off the Avenue du Trois Septembre. Again, look for and follow the blue pedestrian signs. These narrow streets take you past magnificent private homes, gardens and villas. Be careful and stay close to the side of the road since these barely accommodate both cars and pedestrians at the same time. Another way to access this lovely walk is to start from the Tennis Center of Monaco/Cap D'Ail heading west toward Mala Beach. You'll find several restaurants along the way. There are no bicycles allowed and dogs on a leash are welcome. Informational signs posted along the way tell you about the local marine life. There are lots of cacti and coastal flora along the way. This path is closed by the Mairie (town hall) during inclement weather. I totally get it. I took a fall last year on a wet and slippery part of the path after they reopened it following a storm. The views of the ocean, cliffs, birdlife and homes are simply spectacular. There are some steps and inclines along the way but it's mostly a flat walk. The steepest part of this path is when you're reaching Mala beach that requires you to go up and down several steps. It's a unique experience and absolutely free.

Sentier du Littoral de Cap D'Ail starts at Mala Beach of Cap D'Ail and ends at Marquet Beach near Monaco. Most of the time you'll walk right near the sea with beautiful views of the sea, beaches, hills, and villas. The path is closed at 2-3 places (due to safety reasons) and there are arrows showing how to bypass those sections from above (and then return to the main path).
I'd recommend the following walk: Cap D'Ail train station --> (15-20 min) --> Plage Mala --> (40-50 min, the main path) --> Plage Marquet --> (10-15 min) --> Monaco (Fontvieille Shopping Centre and the museum area).
I walked several coastal paths of the French Riviera and found this one to be one of the best so highly recommend it if you like long walks and beautiful views.

If you are in Monaco and want to do something different than visiting the touristic attractions downtown, you should not miss this trail, starting at Marquet Beach (close to the border with France) and going west until Mala Beach. You can only do it by walk (or running) and only if the weather conditions allow it (in Summer it is usually ok, but in other seasons with very bad weather it might be closed as powerful waves could reach the trail). The trail is on the coast, with cliffs, promontories, small bays, and wonderful views of the distant villages. Car roads are not near, so you can enjoy listening to the sound of the sea, without any traffic noise around. There are many private and exclusive historical villas with Mediterranean gardens, close to the trail. There are also nice restaurants you could stop for dinner on the trail. Highly recommended.

After arriving at the train station at Cap d'Ail from Nice Ville, we turned left after going into the station car park and went down the underpass which led straight on to the coastal path overlooking the sea. An easy, virtually level walk, with stunning coastal views in both directions and plenty of seats along the way. The walk goes all the way to Monaco, passing through the Port de Cap d'Ail and the nearby heliport, then through the Roseraie Princesse Grace, a small pretty park, before rounding the Port de Fontvielle harbour. We used the escalator to cross over the road, passing the museum of the private collection of the Prince of Monaco's vintage cars (Collection de Voitures Anciennes de SAS - which is well worth a visit for those interested in cars, including some Formula 1 racing cars - see our separate review). Then we followed the signs to the Gare de Monaco to return to Nice by train. An excellent, easy walking day which we recommend for those who enjoy coastal walking and sea views. Note, there are gates that can be closed for those times when the walk is apparently closed due to rough seas.

Not the easiest walking path as you constantly go up and down, sometimes you have the sun on you, then it's shady or even wet/damp.
However if you're even in reasonable physical condition this is a really nice path to take and enjoy the clear blue water of the sea and the view on the Rivièra and old villas.
Recommended, just do it early in the morning.

You can access this walk from Cap d'Ail rail station. From the car park in front of the station take the underpass which brings you out directly onto the path. Much of this stretch has been cemented so walking is very easy. If the weather is good I would suggest turning right from the underpass and going to the path's extremity at Plage Mala, about 15/20 minutes. Plage Mala is one of the most secluded and impressive beaches along this stretch of coast. In the high season there are 2 beach-side "restaurants" with changing facilities. The walk is easy, but when we went the path around the headland (pointe du mala?) was closed so necessitated a steep climb up steps and the road, then a fairly steep descent on the path back down to Mala. Having spent time there you can then retrace your steps to the station (and visit villa les Camelias) or carry on towards the port of Cap d'Ail and Monaco.

Walked from plage Mala to Monaco along the Sentier du Littoral, it was a fairly easy walk, in excellent condition, and with plenty of places to stop to enjoy the fabulous view.

This is a pretty pathway along the coast heading to cap Martin from Monaco. Be prepared, however, to sweat with the various staircases!

This path links Cap d'Ail with Mala beach. It is well engineered and has lots of points of access and egress. There are wonderful views from almost every point and plenty of places to swim/sunbathe/sit

We are driving from Nice to Monaco the first of September and would like to take the coastal path walk. Can you suggest which direction to walk it and the starting and finishing points. We are not sure what to do with the car during the walk. Thanks for any insight you can share.
