Firstly make sure you find the car park located due west, This gives you access to the staircase which is to the south (good for going down) or the zigzag path on the west side. We parked to the North which was fine but meant we had a longer walk up through the woods. The planting is quite mature now so it is very pleasant walk but takes at least half an hour and then there's the structure on the top!
This is free(!) but then there are no cafe's or facilities. The view is really good and it's not too difficult to climb up the stairs. My family enjoyed it and bI thought it was one of the best things to do in the area.

Not to hard to climb up itself, but you have to park/alight the bus below and hike up a rather steep hill to it. The path is wide and tarmaced so you don't need hiking boots etc. Below are signs describing the sights across the view, as you are already quite high up on top of the hill. You could stay here if you don't fancy the structure although it is an easy climb and you get a superb view of the Ruhr area, which despite lots of heavy industry, is greener than you think. No entry costs.

I went to the Tetraeder last Sunday and it is now definitely one of my favorite sights in that area. From up there you have a wonderful view over the entire Ruhrarea. However, the way to the top can be a bit scary if you are afraid of hights. I recommend to go if you are in that area.
A parking lot free of charge is located right next to the little hill you need to hike up to.

great venue to see the industrial heart of germany! the iron-works of Duisburg , the Kokereien in Gladbeck, Steel and Oil in. Gelsenkirchen! 30 years back there wouldne nothing bit smoke and coal all around you.
Today you can glimpse far back in time.
In any direction yourcan spot a Foerderturm of the RAG Mining company !
Believe it or not from Bottrop you can get as far as Dortmund underground 30+km!

Here you get stunning views over the north part of the Ruhrgebiet on an architectural highlight in that region. You must not have health problems to climb all the stairs which lead you into heaven.

When I told friends that I visited the Tetraeder in Bottrop, they all said that it is nothing special and not worth visiting. I beg to differ! I was deeply impressed by the sheer size of the structure.
For many years I saw the four-sided pyramid, several times a year, when driving along the A42 autobahn. And every time I thought that one day I would go there. And then I did.
We had trouble to find the right parking lot from where the short hike up the hill starts, because you cannot see it from the road. When we reached the top there were two breathtaking things: The Tetraeder and the view. Amazing!
The highest platform is really…well, high. It is nothing for the faint of heart. If you are scared of hights better reconsider. The open steel mesh floor allows you to look right down to the bottom, around 38 meters below.
The structure is set on an artificial hill made from waste rock or materials overlying an ore or mineral body that are displaced during mining without being processed. The hilltop is barren land that looks like a lunar landscape and is in stark contrast to the rest of the hill which is green and forested. The “summit” of the hill is 90 meters higher that the surrounding land.
Beware of strong winds!
The Tetraeder (German for: tetrahedron) is the town’s landmark of Bottrop.
A visit is highly recommended, especially at sunset. And it is for free.

This is certainly something thats unique and unusual. Especially in the Bottrop area of Germany, which isn't really a tourist hotspot. So its certainly a hidden gem to the more western visitors. But i do highly recommend, as it is so picturesque and unique. It makes for a great little hike to get to the pyramid, and once there, a very vertical stroll all the way up to the top. If you are scared of heights this probably isn't for you, but if you want to see a great 360 view of some German landscape, whilst onto of some modern architecture, then this is a must.

This is how an alien spaceship might look like. The sign at the entrance says that the climb is a contemplative experience, because at each platform you have to decide: shall I turn back or continue. A unique experience it certainly is, even without aliens.

My friends took me to the top of this pyramid. I am very afraid of heights but decided to go up it anyways. I'm glad I did. It is a little hard to get to. You have to walk up a small hill from the parking area, so wear some walking shoes. The stairs up to the top of the Bottrop has holes in them so you look straight down to the grown. When you get to the second level the view is incredible, but when you get to the top, its even better. You are able to see for miles in all direction. Ensure that you bring some water and if you are afraid of heights, swallow your fear, it is very stable.

Nice place to go for a slight hiking. Just go on the top, feel the wind and entertain yourself with the winds and views. From there, look at the view of entire Ruhrgebiet. There are 3 platforms at different elevations for making break or sight viewing. From there, if you have height-phobia don't look down. I am sure that you guys will definitely enjoy there!! Cheers!!

Quali sono gli orari di visita del Tetraeder? C'è un giorno di chiusura?

It doesn‘t close at all! There is no quiet day, because there is no gate or entrance fee! This attraction is completely free of charge, if parking is free!
It is closed for safety reasons in winter when snow and ice are present. Also it is not recommended to climb up during high winds or gusts.
