- David Nisbet29 contributionsThe mighty LionessesSaw the Lionesses beat Scotland, my first football match as an adult. Was sat front row L25 just beside the goal, saw Mary Earps etc warming up. Also completely by accident managed to see both teams coming off the buses. Amazing experience. Stadium staff were friendly, seat was comfortable. Would visit this stadium again.Visited October 2023Traveled soloWritten October 4, 2023
- Lucie CMansfield, United Kingdom14 contributionsGreat venue for a concertWent to see Pink in concert here. One of the best stadiums I have been to in this country tbh. The toilets were clean & never a queue longer than 6 people, they had them every few metres too! The staff were mega friendly & the whole experience was greatVisited June 2023Traveled with friendsWritten October 12, 2023

- Gurj SWalsall, United Kingdom561 contributionsFirst football match experience.Had the pleasure of visiting the Stadium of Light on 01/04/2024. Whilst the result wasnt great the visit and the atmosphere was perfect. We were guests of a player and got to see the players lounge, dugouts, tour of the pitch after the game. All staff we came across were amazing. Northern hospitality at its best.Visited April 2024Traveled with familyWritten April 5, 2024
- harryzacOldham, United Kingdom491 contributionsBrilliant organisation. Really friendly staff. Great venue.45,000 people for Bruce Springsteen! I feared huge queues. Lack of organisation. How wrong I was. The staff couldn’t have been more helpful. Entry & exit was straightforward and smooth. The sound & video system great. As a word of advice…book parking and a restaurant table in town asap…there’ll be nothing to be had in the day.Visited May 2024Traveled as a coupleWritten May 23, 2024
- CatherineD270Queensbury, United Kingdom74 contributionsPoor experience at the Stadium of LightThis venue might be great for football but it really shouldn’t hold music events. It’s simply not geared up to handle them. I saw Bruce Springsteen there yesterday and though the show was great the organisation at the venue was appalling. Chaotic outside. Tickets wouldn’t read at the turnstiles. Eventually got in but in wrong area. The stewards were all really friendly and tried to be helpful but we were sent all over the place before eventually getting to the right area. The walkways and steps were crowded with people and the security were just watching as people struggled to find their seats. The sum of “security checks” consisted of a cursory glance in bags. And at the end of the concert the female toilets were disgusting. A concert isn’t a 90 minute football match. People were there for hours and the facilities were obviously going to be well used. No excuse for not having some cleaning staff on duty. It’s a shame because I’m sure the ground handles football matches well but I won’t be attending any more music events at this venue.Visited May 2024Traveled with familyWritten May 24, 2024

What a magical day. We are Sunderland season ticket holders that drive up from Blackpool to watch the Black Cats. We looked forward to getting back to normal in football terms and we weren’t disappointed. The stadium is fantastic and you get a great view wherever you sit. The club provide a park and ride system for both sets of fans so it isn’t congested around the stadium. Although we are in League 1 the fans turned out in their thousands(31,500) and there was a tremendous atmosphere. A good win that should have been greater - let’s hope this is our year for promotion.

This is a great stadium and there is nothing quite like the atmosphere you get at a live football game and spend it with your family and friends. The stadium is of a premiership size and so there ate plenty of seats. I would recommend going if you are a football fan or you've come to the UK to experience football here.
Make sure you arrive 30 minutes before as it can take this long to get in to your seats.

A really good day out! Went to a pre-game meal and drinks.
The staff were friendly and couldn’t do enough for us. They were really welcoming and made sure we had a great day.
The atmosphere in the stadium during the game was fantastic, great to be a part of for any football fan even if you don’t support Sunderland.

Beautiful stadium and would recommend anyone going whether a fan of football or not. They do concerts in the Summer also I believe so definitely worth a visit. Drinks are reasonably priced also.

Cracking trip for Charlton win. Steps are a bit much, they try and hide the away fans away up top but the home fans make literally zero noise so away fans should still create more atmosphere. The chicken balti pie was good. Drinks and food on lower concourse but gets you out the cold. Tv reception like something from the 1980s though. Very vigorous security shakedown to get into the ground. Programme is pretty reasonable. Stadium isn’t too far out of town. Not much to see or do locally so just pop in and out just for the game.

Hi I am coming to see pink on 11th June, I have booked a gold circle ticket however there is very little info about this online. How big is the gold circle, what capasity will it have? Do I need to arrive early to be near to the front? Also is there access to a bar? Is it seperated from the rest of the crowd?
Many questions, any answers are appreciated! :)

Hi. When it comes to concerts. Is there plenty of parking nearby on offer. All the pre paid bookable parking spots have been taken and I’m driving 2 hrs. I don’t want to be without being able to park. TIA

Hi, Jen. What would you like to know about this attraction?I hear that cheesy chips and blue pop are a favourite of the fans here. Can you get them on match days?

Hello
Hoping you can help me....we've been to the SOL a number of times as our lad is a mad Black Cats fan...I'm thinking of taking him for the Portsmouth game on the 17th August but we live down in Gloucestershire so I'd rather not drive....how quickly does the Metro clear through on match days normally? I would need to get back into Newcastle to catch our train down south and I cannot really miss it....the match should (theorectically finish about 2.30pm and we've found we can get out of the stadium really quickly normally). Our train from Newcastle would leave at 4.45pm....do you think that is enough time to get from the SOL to Newcastle on match days
Thanks in advance

I wish I could be of help. I visited the stadium for business. I have no doubt the facilities and resources exist within the stadium for such an event as you are seeking but I would advise contacted marketing/entertainment, or similar. I hope you realise your goal!

Hi
I have just book the Pacifae Golden village hotel. We have been allocated a triple room, are all the rooms ok? Just asking as there are only 2 of us and a bit concerned that we are in an old room or out of the way area. I did request a high floor and quiet.
Probably just me but I tend to panic once I have booked!
If anyone can come back to me that would be great
Thanks a lot
Anne
