I am a Sunderland fan but I live out of the country and hadn't been to a game since Christmas 2019. It was brilliant to be able to travel again and be back in the ground now that the COVID pandemic is under control.
The stadium is magnificent, there are great views of the pitch from any angle.
For away fans, the ground is 10 minutes' walk from the main train station, or less from two nearer metro stations. Lots of buses. Loads of street parking too but watch out for the residents-only areas and their £60 fines (these are clearly signposted), just park a couple of streets further away. There is also free park & ride.
I was here for SAFC v NCFC. The atmosphere was great. Pity we got sucker punched at the end!

This is a great stadium and there is nothing quite like the atmosphere you get at a live football game and spend it with your family and friends. The stadium is of a premiership size and so there ate plenty of seats. I would recommend going if you are a football fan or you've come to the UK to experience football here.
Make sure you arrive 30 minutes before as it can take this long to get in to your seats.

What a magical day. We are Sunderland season ticket holders that drive up from Blackpool to watch the Black Cats. We looked forward to getting back to normal in football terms and we weren’t disappointed. The stadium is fantastic and you get a great view wherever you sit. The club provide a park and ride system for both sets of fans so it isn’t congested around the stadium. Although we are in League 1 the fans turned out in their thousands(31,500) and there was a tremendous atmosphere. A good win that should have been greater - let’s hope this is our year for promotion.

Expensive food and drinks for a L1 club, away fans be ready to climb as the stairs up are ridiculous. Over priced beers and not atmosphere from the home fans unless they are winning. Plus side east to get to from the metro link

A really good day out! Went to a pre-game meal and drinks.
The staff were friendly and couldn’t do enough for us. They were really welcoming and made sure we had a great day.
The atmosphere in the stadium during the game was fantastic, great to be a part of for any football fan even if you don’t support Sunderland.

Apart from a poor display from the lads (we lost 0-1 to Cardiff), the match day catering is a disgrace. I waited 25 minutes at half time to be served, missing the only goal at the start of the second half, to find there was no bovril and no crisps left. How can an organisation this size run out of such basic item's? They could have popped to Tesco to stock up if the Catering Manager isn't up to the job. Shocking.
A very disgruntled cold and damp season ticket holder.

Cracking trip for Charlton win. Steps are a bit much, they try and hide the away fans away up top but the home fans make literally zero noise so away fans should still create more atmosphere. The chicken balti pie was good. Drinks and food on lower concourse but gets you out the cold. Tv reception like something from the 1980s though. Very vigorous security shakedown to get into the ground. Programme is pretty reasonable. Stadium isn’t too far out of town. Not much to see or do locally so just pop in and out just for the game.

Sponsored a recent home match with a group of friends to celebrate my nephews stag. The hospitality and service we received at the Stadium was first class, we were treated like royalty from the minute we arrived. Nothing was too much trouble for the hospitality team. The quality of the food was excellent. I won’t say too much about the football - but there was a great atmosphere with 38K in the Stadium.

Hello
Hoping you can help me....we've been to the SOL a number of times as our lad is a mad Black Cats fan...I'm thinking of taking him for the Portsmouth game on the 17th August but we live down in Gloucestershire so I'd rather not drive....how quickly does the Metro clear through on match days normally? I would need to get back into Newcastle to catch our train down south and I cannot really miss it....the match should (theorectically finish about 2.30pm and we've found we can get out of the stadium really quickly normally). Our train from Newcastle would leave at 4.45pm....do you think that is enough time to get from the SOL to Newcastle on match days
Thanks in advance

I wish I could be of help. I visited the stadium for business. I have no doubt the facilities and resources exist within the stadium for such an event as you are seeking but I would advise contacted marketing/entertainment, or similar. I hope you realise your goal!

Hi
I have just book the Pacifae Golden village hotel. We have been allocated a triple room, are all the rooms ok? Just asking as there are only 2 of us and a bit concerned that we are in an old room or out of the way area. I did request a high floor and quiet.
Probably just me but I tend to panic once I have booked!
If anyone can come back to me that would be great
Thanks a lot
