Great place for walking, running, going with kids to feed the birds and chatting with other great people who go there. Ideal for all ages. Disabled parking and toilets and cafe as you drive in.

Came here with the dog and was great, loads of open wide space for the dog to run around, he also enjoyed a splash in the lake!! Would definitely return as right next to penshaw monument for that extra walk!

Large area for walking with views on a clear day of Durham Cathedral and surrounding area of Durham and Tyne and Wear. The park is next to the famous Penshaw monument which again is well worth the climb to the top for the views alone....More

I don’t believe it shuts as such, the only thing that may not be open is the little cafe and toilets but I believe the top car park isn’t gated and neither are the footpaths.
