After becoming new members of the national trust we were keen to start putting our membership to good use. Souter lighthouse was a place we'd passed many times and never been to so it was an ideal start. The lighthouse itself is limited for a long visited but there are some good walks for all abilities. Do note that on... More

First time visiting here and was pleasantly surprised. The gentleman at the top of the lighthouse shared a lot of interesting facts about the lenses and how the lighthouse used to work (it is still functioning, but not used). The gentleman in the main part of the building also shared a lot about the other rooms and history of the... More

We are national trust members so its free. Been a couple of times and its great. Only small and will only fill an hour or two. The play area is free to use, even to non NT members. The cafe is small but really nice.

This is a lovely lighthouse, in a beautiful setting marred by a children's playground too close to it. Don't get me wrong I have no objections to children's playgrounds, but in the right place. I have always viewed the National Trust's objectives as preserving the landscape and historical properties for future generations, but it seems as though many of its... More

We visited previously for the Easter Egg trail with our grandson. He had a great time. I didn't do the climb to the top of lighthouse but our daughter did. The tea room serves lovely sandwiches and handmade cakes. There isn't a great lot to see but very interesting. We are members of the National Trust so admission was free... More

Can walk up the steps to the top, see the bulb, and explore the buildings around.Sit in a toy boat, and zoom the camera on the top to see who is about, children love playing on that.

A National Trust property offering a stunning view of the area from the lamp house right at the top. Other rooms have small related displays and an activity room for children and a gift shop. All vert well done but maybe a bit pricey as you also have to pay the NT to park.

Went to Souter with my 3 year old. From going in until we left the staff were amazing showing us round and explaining different things and activities to my daughter especially Ian and Eddie. We had lunch at the tea room and as with most national trust sites all the food was exceptional especially the cheese scones. We went right... More

We were in the car and exploring the area when we came across Souter lighthouse. What an excellent find. The staff and volunteers at Souter take great pride in the lighthouse and history of the area. They were friendly, interesting and great ambassadors for both the area and The National Trust. We will definitely visit again.

Our brother in law loves lighthouses, so when he came for a visit it was on our to do list. He loved it so much we came twice. Lovely views, fabulous lighthouse, great day out. We were lucky with the weather which made it even better
