Over priced, per adult - no arranged transport available.
Not guaranteed to see a platypus over Easter period so do not book then.
To early for seeing glow worms at dusk till winter.
No dawn tours which are the best time to see platypus as the rest of the day they hunt for food and guaranteed some of your own sightings .
Guides requirements come first and never available during the day to answer questions.
Online booking and payments by credit card may not get your money back if disappointed, 24hr cancellation before the tour and your money back.
Really bad coffee.
Lake Cara is more spectacular than this lake and lots of trout and platypus sightings. dead trees also in this lake but easy access for your own canoe without using an awkward guide.

We loved bush walking to this unique lake. Try and be quiet and still when you arrive and you may see platypus feeding late in the afternoon. The track is quite irregular and has many uneven sections, so proper footwear and an ability to manage various gradients is essential. The story of how the lake came about is interesting and the whole return walk is well worth the effort. Highly recommended.

A beautiful short walk (but decent hill climbs on way) to a lake view
almost like a children’s story scene. Dead trees rising out of calm waters.
Forest bound, gentle and calming, the lake is a magic place of peace.

My Dad turned 80 recently and told him about this beauty of a walk.
“Just a little hill in the middle” he teasingly echoed my earlier introduction as we stopped to catch breath.
Worth the mild/moderate effort. Beautiful fern glades shade most of the track - perfect in summer.
The opening “Narnia”-like view of Lake Elizabeth did wow my Dad. Quite the nature vista.
Returning to car, he acknowledged “that was a great walk”.

An absolutely beautiful lake and the loop walk around it, at 4kms, is easy and worth doing. Pristine, picturesque and like something out of a prehistoric movie with its massive tree ferns and eerie stillness. Get out there early if you can and you might spot a platypus.

Last minute decision to go here was a lovely day the track was a little hilly for the young ones but we enjoyed our day here
The lake is so tranquil to sit and watch we did encounter snakes on the track so we suggest people keep an eye out
Overall a must visit again in the near future

Went here on a 'paddle with platypus' tour. Lake is very secluded and I doubt you will see many tourists here, as it is quite inaccessible. The only real way to get onto the lake is but a pre-organised kayak tour. However the tour was so-so and didn't see many platypus. The lake itself is good, but expect a bit of a hike plus the road going down is unsealed, so be careful if you don't have a 4wd.

Drove to Forrest for a look and ducked out to see Elizabeth Lake. Didn’t realise it was a 800m up and down walk to the lake. No big deal - nice 40 min walk - but thought it would be alongside the campground.

Speaking of the campground, nice enough , tent only camping. Surprised the toilets were a long way away.

Looks like the mountain bike trails would be good.

Unfortunately,I’m from WA so couldn’t use any of the facilities as such. The walk was nice, the lake nice but if tight for time don’t worry about seeing it - it won’t wow you.

I organised the tour with Bruce via email. He's a bit hard to reach, but it all worked fine. We did the dawn tour, so had to get up very early and met Ruby at the brewery in Forrest. It was a warm welcome and then we drove to the lake together (pit toilets available at the carpark). It's quite an up and down hill walk to the lake, which is perfectly fine for people with an average fitness level but need to be considered for older people and those having problems uphill. However, Ruby didn't stress us and patiently waited at the lake for everyone to arrive. Once there, we were sitting in 2 canoes tied together.
Ruby explained a lot about platipy and was happy to answer any questions.
We also saw lots of Platypi (there r 7 in the lake in total) and one of them was super friendly and came close to the canoes (this is not very usual).
Most of the Platypi were seen from larger distance, don't expect them to swim towards Ur canoe and chat with you, these animals are super shy!
After 2h on the lake we were offered some hit drinks and had another nice chat before we could make our way back the the car park or stay at the lake.
Payment is cash or card ($85pP) and totally worth it.
PS: on our drive back to Forrest, we also met a 🐨 koala, watch out for them around that area!

There are parts of Lake Elizabeth I like and don't like so I'll write a brief story of my trip and then I'll do pros and cons.

I was feeling quite active and had plans of visiting Beauchamp Falls which was great then the path led me along the coast to Maits Rest which is always good and on the way home I seen a sign leading to Lake Elizabeth which I'd never been to before so I thought why not.

The lake is located in the town of Forrest. The path to the lake is gravel, bumpy and quite narrow in places but it's also only like a 5 minute drive from the town so it's bearable. Quite able to tackle this road with a standard car.

Arriving at the car park you walk down a couple of steps and find yourself in an open area with a creek running alongside and a sign at the beginning of the walk.

I have no idea where they came up with the times on the sign but I did the first part which is a sometimes steep and bumpy forest path to the lake. I'm of moderate fitness in my mid 30's and there were patches I were puffing. I seen people pushing prams up and carrying kids and they looked exhausted on the way back. The walk to the lake took me about 20 minutes at a moderate pace. The Lake to be honest is nothing spectacular. It just looks like any other lake with a few logs sticking out of it. I would not take my kids on that path just to see this.
The second part of the lake is to the "beach". Alot of people don't venture past the first part of the walk as this part gets alot more narrow and is uphill most of the way. Not suitable for prams. This part of the walk took me about 30 minutes. On arriving you walk along a little path to a small bank on the side of the lake which is what they call the "beach". It's a bit more peaceful in this spot but there's not much room so it can get crowded quick and watch for snakes.
The next part of the walk is the "loop" which was the best part of the trip for me.
No one else did this part so it was just mother nature and myself. This part took me about another hour to get back to the start of the first walk. It encircles the entire lake. You cross over a small path over to the other side surrounded with tall reeds, lizards, snakes, bees and very green grasses. It felt like being on the set of Jurassic Park. On the other side of the lake is much darker and unkept. Very narrow in spots filled with giant ferns and the occasional view of the lake.
Coming out of the loop I started the hike back towards my car completely exhausted but not regretting it at all. If I hadn't of done the "loop" section I probably would of only rated this 2 stars. I went on a public holiday which is always a bad idea because all the walks, waterfalls, beaches are all packed. There were no birds around because of all the people and struggled to get a park. There are toilets located here.

Pros: "The Loop", "Short drive to walk from town", "Peaceful when not a public holiday".

Cons: "small car park", "Mosquitoes", "Not an easy walk to take kids with you", "Platforms are quite small and get full fast".
