About
A new cellar door on The Bellarine Peninsula. We offer a casual, rustic and relaxed atmosphere to taste wines under the shade of gum trees. You can take in the view of The You Yangs while enjoying some nibbles. Come and play bocce and there is plenty of room for kids to run around while you can sit back and relax.

Attended this establishment for a birthday. It was cold and raining late afternoon/early evening and we
We’re still n the marque attached to the main building. We had only just arrived and one of the two outdoor heaters ran out of gas. A new bottle was not provided so people were attached to the one heater to try to stay warm. The door was extremely heavy to enter in and out to the main building which is difficult for those purchasing drinks, and to attend to the bathrooms. Bottle of wine was $30 on the menu but when paying the price doubled to $60 just because we were planning on drinking it there at the party. This establishment does offer coffee on the menu and prices are expensive for the food and drinks. Staff were grumpy and rude. Whilst the vineyard looked very pretty, and it would be nice to have a dessert and coffee or glass of wine, it wouldn’t be possible with the desert menu consisting of brownies and no coffee. My first and last visit to this establishment… keep driving to the vineyards next door !

Young blonde server on Monday 25th was very rude. When I asked if they did coffee the response was “we are a cellar door so no, we do wine”. I would have thought as a hospitality venue serving food, coffee was also available, not an unreasonable question. Then when I asked about tastings, it cost $25 for a wine board... at a cellar door? We sat down to a dirty table and the attitude continued. Perhaps they don’t like out of towners but I’m afraid that’s inverse snobbery that’s not going to help their bottom line.

Hey Ros
Thanks so much for taking the time to leave us with some feedback.
Sorry that we were unable to meet your expectations. Wine definitely is our passion so we try to focus on that rather than coffee; we live in an area with great cafès and restaurants so we tend to leave the barista work to them. We hope you’ll understand. The wine board is quite a simple one for us to address; we'll show you anywhere from 8 to 12 wines and putting this together and we take great care in not only producing the wines but also talking about them. This also factors in staff time to services 8 glasses and to serve the board with bread, local olive oil and local spices. I'm not sure if you're insinuating that this should be a free service? I can't really think of any businesses at all that'd be expected to offer their goods or services for no cost but nonetheless, I'll take all of this on board.
'Inverse snobbery' is a rather creative term but is something that I want to try assure you couldn't be further from the truth. We as a management team acknowledge we may have spread ourselves too thin given the minimal amount of staff we had and have fallen short with service as a result. We desperately wanted to be open as much as possible so that more people could enjoy the environment in Summer, however we may have missed the mark in our ability to resource this. We’ve been overwhelmingly proud of our staff who have worked tirelessly to service our constantly thirsty community, we’re lucky we have them and if we could get more of the same it’d be a blessing. Let me assure you that we as a management team are taking this sort of feedback extremely seriously and are already in the process of addressing the concerns you’ve raised, which is an exercise we’re attacking from the top down.
I hope you’ll have a change of heart and come and visit us one day. Come and see me directly if you do as I’d love to have a chat and even share a glass of wine when you’re in.
Warm Regards
Tom

Relaxed and welcoming atmosphere
Jamie was excellent talking us through the various wines and explaining how the different flavours are achieved. He is very knowledgeable and obviously enjoys discussing wine making…… and having the odd glass too👍
We will definitely be back…..

My partner and I came here during the week as it is much quieter then the weekends. We live locally and this is a great spot. Staff were attentive, great customer service and ordering was easy to do. But the winery staff need to have a normal way to pay at the counter as we saw elderly people who don't have a fancy updated mobile to be ordering food and drinks through their winery app so please make it easier for the older generation.
We had the cheese fruit platter and a Blacksmith pizza.

So we can go then it’s about every two months usually for pizza on our last visit we will very happily surprised to see the expanded menu with additional options. We enjoyed a woodfired pizzas although Despite being on the pricey side.
It was very pleasing to see that the menu has been expanded to some other dishes which we really enjoyed.

Well let’s say we had the most embarrassing and stressful experience ever at this place!!! The manager/owner was a very obnoxious and rude. He called himself a wine maker and not a restauranteur when asked about an item on the menu. He went off the handle and yelled at us for asking to make a simple substitution because of a dietary requirement. His other reasoning for yelling was that his business did it tough over lockdown. Well hello buddy! So did everyone else and it certainly didn’t give you the right to belittle us and yell at us! This person should not be anywhere near patrons and if wine making is his skill then return to making wine, as customer service clearly isn’t!! His appalling attitude continued so we ate and left. We did not buy a second round of drinks. Did not buy dessert. Did not buy any wine to take home either. We will NEVER return to this place and nor will anyone of our friends or family after we told them of our experience. Word of mouth is golden in referrals. Well you ain’t never going to get this from any of us!! Your loss is others gain as there are so many other great wineries in the vicinity.

Hi Foodilicious54,
We appreciate you taking the time to leave us this review. It sounds like your interaction with the staff member really impacted your experience, and we are terribly sorry to hear that.
We definitely know the value of word of mouth; it is has been our main form of marketing and how we have grown our business for the last five years. We are happy to say that reviews like yours are not the norm, and we will definitely take this back to the team to see how we can do better. Everyone has bad days, but we never want patrons to feel stressed while dining with us, so we apologize for that.
We do wonder - how was your experience otherwise? Your review doesn't comment on the food, the wine, the view or any of the other staff. We hope that there were some aspects of your visit that you enjoyed.
While you may not return to us, we are happy to hear you will return to some of the other amazing local wineries in the area. The Bellarine is a pretty special place.

Beautiful views, lovely pizzas, but don’t try and take healthy snacks for your 1 and 3 year old grandchildren. Was very rudely informed that the venue was not McDonalds and they served food there. I tried to explain that the children would not eat pizza and I had packed some fruit and veg for them to only be told “we’re trying to make ends meet.”. We spent approximately $400 so surely not too much to ask to feed our children what we wanted to. Won’t be back!!

Ok so here is the deal, I am a local may not have been a local for 40 years but still a local resident with property in both Port and Indented Head ( not that should make any difference at all!!!!)
How were treated, like some city folk taking their time up.
We visited during January, yep get it that it’s a crazy time of the year BUT if you are in hospitality then be hospitable!!!!!
Menu was very limited, we ordered pizza which was lovely, nice thin base with fresh toppings.
When we booked we asked to be seated inside, that didn’t happen.
Nothing relaxed about our visit at all as staff were snappy and short. Service was extremely poor.
So as a local , when the silly season dies down who do you fall back on to provide cash flow? Yes your locals.

Hi Kerry
Thanks for taking the time to leave some feedback with us, which is something we value wholeheartedly.
City folk aren't that bad are they? It's an age-old us vs them squabble that we as a business can't afford to weigh too heavily into. What I will assure you though is that we feel beyond privileged to be a part of the Bellarine community and being long-standing locals ourselves, we make conscious efforts to do all we possibly can for the Bellarine and surrounds.
Unfortunately we were unable to accommodate your request for lounges and a low table due to the fact that a large group of locals who are in most weeks had already reserved that spot for that particular sitting. We tried to accommodate you under the marquee where we believe the views are some of the best from that part of the deck. With reference to a limited menu; we keep the menu fairly limited as we'd prefer to do a few popular things well, which seemingly from your feedback is something we achieved on what was a fairly busy day.
Regarding service, this is something we as a management team stick our hand up and acknowledge we need to improve. As part of our endeavour to service the community through this unbelievably busy period, we fear we may have spread ourselves too thin given the minimal amount of staff we have. We desperately wanted to be open as much as possible so that more our locals and 'city folk' could enjoy the environment in Summer, however we may have fallen short on our ability to resource this. We’ve been really proud of our staff who've worked tirelessly to service our constantly thirsty community, we’re lucky we have them and if we could get more of the same it’d be a blessing. It's really hard finding more hospitality staff at the moment but I know that's not your problem.
I can assure you this isn’t a cultural or attitudinal problem as you've prescribed, but more of a lapse of judgement in not being able to staff well enough for the crazy demand that we experienced. This is something that we as a management team are taking on board and we're already in the process of addressing the concerns you’ve raised, which is an exercise we’re attacking from the top down.
With this, we're looking forward to the rest of the Summer with some fun things going on and plenty of people still keen to share a drink and the wonderful view. If you're willing to give us another shot, come and see me directly as I'm sure we can share a wine and a chat!
Cheers
Tom
