About
The Twist is a gallery, a bridge, and a sculpture, all in one. The 1000 square meter building twists into a sculptural form and spans 60 meters across the Randselva river. The building was designed by the Danish star architects BIG - Bjarke Ingels Group and is named as a "must-see" cultural destination by the New York Times, Bloomberg and The Telegraph, among others. This year's exhibition is "Come Out!", on display from 24th May to 11th October. "Come Out!" is an exhibition prompted by the unique situation in which we find ourselves, and invites the audience to reclaim public and cultural spaces.

The building "The twist" is incredible, that "turningtorso" twist horizontally, over the river, and its interior...dreamlike. The Twist alone is worth the trip. And in addition, there are wonderful sculptures such as the mirror effect labyrinth, the octopus, the water whirlwind... So many! and a beautiful forest...

The building is beautiful and special. The gallery is not very big, but the sculptures inside are beautiful. The exhibition is very coherent, variations on a theme.
The toilet is somewhat creepy with a weird speaking mouth on the wall. It also feels a bit cold and brutalist. The view outside is fabulous.

We had high hopes for our visit to Kistefos this summer, since we were impressed by the new Twist Building last year. This year's exhibition was very disappointing, sparse and dull. A sad choice of exhibits in such exceptional surroundings. We hope they will do better next year!

A lot of press about this new gallery made us take the trip to Kistefos. A fascinating building in the nice museum area with some very interesting art works with good descriptions of artists and the exhibited work

Well the entrance fee is expensive for what you get: ok the architecture of the gallery is unique but the art inside,... was not what we would call art.

We were amazed by the style and look of the Twist Galley both inside and outside. A great exhibition inside which was elevated by the building itself.

The collections vary, but the museum itself is worth a visit (be sure to visit the bathrooms downstairs). Surrounding sculpture garden and park are spectacular.

Maybe an OK exhibition when there are few people in the park, but the day we visited it, it was a bottleneck with people queueing to get into the twist and then a bit too many people inside. Hence, I more appreciated leaving than entering The Twist Gallery

The Twist is a gallery, a bridge, and a sculpture, all in one, within the Kistefos Museum, so you need a ticket in there to visit. An impressive, special building, with beautiful lighting inside, and interesting contemporary artwork.
