We pre-booked our bobsleigh run via email a few weeks before our holiday. Arrived in time to watch a few bobsleighs hurtle down the track first .. exciting to see the looks on their faces afterwards, some smiling and others looking bit traumatised! You get a mini van ride up to the start, then get a waist support belt/helmet on before getting into your Bob with the driver. Seatbelts on and off you go for approx 60 seconds of fun! You do get the feeling of 3G force on the corners, more so if you’re seated at the back of the Bob. Overall a fun activity about 20mins drive north of Lillehammer. Cost 1000 krona for family of 3 sharing one Bob.

Great experience. We did the basic run in a mock up padded cart as he had two kids with us but adults can do the full bobsleigh run. Even our run was very fast and you get thrown around - real buzz

What an amazing experience! This has been on my bucket list for such a long time and the reality exceeded all my expectations 🙂 Only the 3G Bob raft was running on the day we visited (it's like a padded bath tub!) but it was still incredibly fast.... I'm not sure if I would have survived the 5G taxi Bob! The staff were wonderful, really friendly and informative. There's drinks available in the ticket office, but no cafe or anywhere to get a snack or something to eat. Getting there without a car isn't easy. We got the 141 bus from Lillehammer Station which drops you off at Fossegarden (cost 53 NK). Its then a 2 km walk across the dam and then through the Family resort (30-40 minutes going as its up hill, only 20-30 minutes back down hill) Fantastic visit, highly recommended

I decided to go for the Taxibob, which is the full works, 5G cornering experience in a ‘real’ bobsleigh. All the staff were very friendly and happy to speak English, as I had joined two other English travellers to complete the crew. Our driver was fantastic, made sure the safety equipment was correctly fitted and helped us prepare for the slide. He got us down safe and with great skill. I don’t recall us touching the sides at any point. Don’t underestimate the forces you will experience; our run was just four seconds slower than the track record. A lifetime in competition terms but shows the speeds achieved. Totally recommended and well worth the journey. For an additional 200kr you can get a GoPro attached to the front and a memory stick with the video at the end. It was very well worthwhile as it captures all the speed and the corners flying at you, which will impress your friends no end.
