Fun hike to do with friends! We ending up going a little off the normal path by accident but since the whole way up in the beginning is open fields we were easily able to make our way back to the normal path. Side note, to get to the summit follow the “T” not the arrow. When looking quickly it can be easy to mix up the two. We went when it was a little muddy and slippery so I would recommend wearing a good pair of hiking boots for traction, especially on the way down. The views at the top are stunning and there’s a lot of space at the top to sit and enjoy them. Although you might get warm walking up the mountain the wind at the top is strong so it’s not a bad idea to pack some sort of wind breaker or jacket!

Dalsnuten - meaning the small top (nut) of Dale, the small village below - is raging only 323 m above sea level. Although it gives a very nice panorama view of the low landscape of Jæren district in Rogaland county. Dalsnuten is easy to climb for families with small children. With a stroller you can reach almost to the foot of the 'nut'. There are two main routes to the top. Try one back and another forth. You find a big parking area at Gramstad, about 45 minutes walk away.

Please be aware that Dalsnuten name used as a common name for place with more than 40 hills tops and hundred of trails for any taste. Few climbing walls available as well as very easy hikes for families with kids. Canoe boats available for rent in tourist office. There were lots of improvements done last few years. Dalsnuten hike itself is paved with stones now. Check a map before you go! I suggest other tops rather than Dalsnuten. Øvre Eikernuten with small kids. Lifjell (starts from Li) if you have walking issues or elderly people. Bjørndalsfjellet, Mattirudla - for more challenging routes and breathtaking views. There are few places for bathing and tenting in area also. I’m hiking there many years and never was bored

What a great walk in a beautiful area close to the city Of Sandnes. A short drive out Of the center and you have great nature with many hikes to choose from.
Dalsnuten is great. 4km from parking in total and quite steep in some places but worth the view.

It’s not easy to get to
Get a number 29 bus to Dale from Stand 12 at Sandnes bus station
It takes 7 minutes to get there
Buses leave every 2 hours
You must plan your timings carefully if using public transport.
I suggest the 1143 arriving at 1150
Ask for GRAMSTAD
Turn right and go up the hill
It says 1km
It’s not. It’s lots more
From the car park walk to the RIGHT and do the lake walk first. Easier to reach summit. The way down is much easier too.
The path up to the top will be cinder path and then a steep climb towards top.
Failure to do route this way sees you climbing very steep scree rocks
Follow the red letter T signs
Do not stray off the path
Not suitable in my view for the under sixes
No railings to hold onto
It’s not an easy climb by all means
You’ve got to be quite fit even though it’s just under 400m high
Views from top are spectacular
Sandnes Stavanger - North Sea coast and planes flying out of Sola airport all visible
The hike takes about 3 to 4 hours to do in total
90 mins to summit is recommended
In the summer quite a few snakes about. Small grey ones but keep away. Was told they can nip and cause a problem
Bus back into Sandnes 1358 1558
1758 or 2058
I would get the 4pm bus back as I did
Take water with you as it gets quite exposed. Sun block in summer essential
A fabulous hike and one to remember

Easy stroll to bottom of hill from the car park. Well marked path up the rocks to the top. Lovely views on the way and from the top. Need reasonable footwear, though my sister in law managed it in high heeled boots. Can get busy during weekends with good weather, so recommend it as an evening walk. One to two hours depending on how fit you are.

This hike is really close to the city of Stavanger. It was a bit strenuous but it was worth every step. The views from the top are priceless

We have been numerous times just for a nice family outing with the kids. It's a manageable walk for everybody from 5 years upwards. The view on the top are breath taking.
