Haraldshaugen monument is a few steps from an easy parking lot one turn from Haugesund's main road. The area is well maintained, and the monument itself is a must see. An old 1000 year old stone cross nearby is also a interesting sight. But to...More

We had a lovely clear sunny day when we visited. Without being rude to Haugesaund it's about the only thing to do there, a nice easy walk.

A magnificent monument the honors Norway's King Harald Hårfagre. Very well located, with a lovely view to the Norwegian sea. It is free to come in.

So all King Harald had to do was conquer all the other kingdoms on the west side of Norway, then divorce his 9 wives, to meet the demand of what must have been a VERY pretty girl. He did both and it took 10 years....More

Just a monument No show Room to tell the History. Too bad, in my opinion. Nearest History site is Avaldsnes. It is space enough to create a real Viking experience here.

This is in my area. I have grown up with it nearby, so I might be a bit tainted. But still, after all these years, I’m kinda impressed by this monument. It’s basically an obelisk, standing on top of what is thought to be the...More

An impressive imposing obelisk overlooking the coast. Interesting site to combine with visiting Avaldnes History Centre and Viking Farm.
