We spent a magical night searching for sightings of the northern lights. We were very lucky to experience these illusive night wonders. The Paeskatun tour guides were more than accommodating to help us see them. They willingly took wonderful pictures of the lights and us. Furthermore, once we we were home, they went far out of their way to help us get those pictures in the right format for us to frame. Thanks, guys!

If we could rate more than 5 stars, we would. Trond was our guide for our skiing day trip and he made it an unforgettable day on our honeymoon trip.
We were both beginner skiers so he took time to teach us the basics, helped us up when we fell (which happened a lot), took photos/videos of special moments, set up a bonfire with hot drinks and shared interesting stories of the local area and his work within the local slate industry. We saw some of his incredible work back at the museum - sandblasted slate art. Trond made our experience all the more richer and our only regret is that we didn’t book more experiences with him. We will be back - thank you.

The team was so welcoming. The talk on the Northern Lights was fascinating. So even though the Northern lights were a no show, the night was certainly not lost, the team improvised and gave us a talk and slate tile presentation in the dark with spot lights - fab! Thank you all!

We had a really great experience with Pæskatun. Trond is a really great guide. He knows a lot about the history in the area and the northern lights. We managed to find it even though the weather wasn't great. And Trond takes amazing pictures during the trip and he is so enthusiastic. We loved it. Thank you.

A great set-up. Love its simplicity. Turn up, gaze in awe at the Aurora, have a cuppa and homemade cake, shop and explore. Roaring open fire was so welcoming. The Sami tent was impressive. Worth every penny ($95 each). This is our Honeymoon. We came to chase the Lights and oh boy we caught them.

We had such a wonderful northern lights experience with Aksel as our guide. Everything was incredibly well planned, from choosing a perfectly beautiful spot with great lights viewing to a fire to keep us warm while we waited. Even if we didn't see the lights (which we did and were incredible), we felt like Aksel made the trip so special and warm. Highly recommend.

We visited Alta on our cruise ship Viking Sky in February and wanted to try cross country skiing again. Paekastun offers friendly guides and a lovely forested course about 25 minutes from the ship’s berthing spot. The guides even take photos and share them with you for no added fee.

It was great fun to be back on the skis for the first time in almost three decades. The countryside was covered with clean white snow and beautiful. The three miles-plus of skiing really wore us out, and the speedy downhill runs had us taking a few spills in the snow. They give you hot cocoa and a chocolate snack too. They provide all the equipment including suits that keep you warm.

We visited Alta in early March on a P&O cruise, we did not book an excursion on the ship as we wanted to see what was available locally. We went ashore and made our way to the tourist office who arranged for us to hunt for the northern lights with Paeskatun. We were collected on time and taken to a slate mine on a mountain where there are traditional huts with log burners, tea, coffee and biscuits. We waited to see the lights, unfortunately there was too much cloud cover, Trond who owns the company said this is not a problem we would move venues, he was absolutely determined to to find us the lights.
We got into a mini bus and travelled deep into the mountains, it was really cold and we were given snow suits, hats and gloves. At our next stop we only had to wait a short time before we had the most amazing Northern lights display, it was spectacular.
Trond helps out with camera settings and also has his own camera for which he emailed the photos when we returned home. On our way back tothe ship we stopped off at a traditional Sami village to see mouse and a local church which Trond supplied the slate tiles for the roof.
Overall this trip is highly recommended, on our way into the mountains we passed several coaches from the ship who had stopped, it turns out that the people on the cruise excursion did not see the lights, we travelled another 45 minutes from them and had a great display made possible by best tour guide in Alta!

We went on a tour on 25th Feb! The forecast was perfect and it was a GOGOGO day! BUT HOWEVER, I don't understand what happened but Alta was full of clouds. Our Guide Trond was so experienced in explaining to us about the northern lights.... And he mentioned that it's impossible to see it here despite the forecast! SO he suggested we drive out to open clear sky! It was almost 2 hours drive from Alta! Trond has such good geography of the place and he knows where to get the best lights! when we were there, OPEN clear space, we could see the stars and the moon... And so many pretty stuffs! About 10 mins of wait, the aurora started showing up a little, it was only mild and some low activities.... So Trond made us soup and hot chocolate and cookies and we waited.... AND THEN SUDDENLY, the aurora lady started dancing, IT WAS ALL OVER THE PLACE. Like 360 degrees...!!! WAS SO AMAZING! And Trond, being such an amazing professional guide, took a photo for us! LOVELY PHOTO! I love it! It was such an experience, I never knew chasing the aurora could be so much fun!! We all loved it, by the time we reached back to the city, it was almost 3am! The extends Trond does, just so we can see the lights is simply remarkable. Thanks Trond! :) *THE GUY in the middle is Trond! If u want more photos, please check out the Facebook page!*

We arrived at Alta only for two nights. Our only fervent wish was to see the Aurora - popularly known as The Northern Lights!! In Alta city the sky was cloudy. We felt that it was going to be a futile exercise. Little knowledge has very small perspective.
Trond picked us up from the hotel. He dashed off our pessimism with an assuring and confident optimism. His van was very comfortable. He had his relevant App on, his sister was relaying to him her own research as to the spots where the sky was clear!!! Trond first took us to his base camp 'Peskatun', served us a warmup with coffee, dressed us up in very very warm snowsuits and shoes complete with really good gloves and head covering!! Then started the drive!!
Trond is the best you can have. He cared for us and gave his ultimate best to satisfy us. Northern Lights!!!! Trond showed us NL - and not just once -- but several times, in diverse spots, in the long drive to the interior of Finnmarkvidda!! He carried on till he could show the panaromic view on the sky of the Northern Lights playing in swirls amongst the twinkling stars!!! Did he look at the clock- No; did he rest with just a couple of sighting-No - we were totally satisfied that our purpose to go to Alta was served fantastically!!! Whoever we described our sightings to, the next day, were very very surprised!!!
A perfect gentleman and the ultimate guide. At the end of the drive, he brought us back to his base Peskatun, and treated us to a supper of hot soups and sandwiches!
A mulitalented person and we will have memories of the Northern Light sightings with Trond's smiling and excited joy in the background!!!
