Christophe was recommended to us by friends. We owe them a big thanks. Christophe isn’t reading from a script. His knowledge is encyclopedic, and he is very clearly reading every book written on the Battle of Normandy and doing his own primary research. As my 13-year-old said, “He knows a lot of stuff.” His passion bubbles out of him throughout the whole tour. He combined facts, strategy, tactics, and personal stories to make this unforgettable. Our tour was long—10+ hours—but we all agreed that it was worth it to get the full understanding of the American sector of the battle. Both of our teens also said that our tour with Christophe was their best day out of 8 in France.

Christophe was our guide to the Normandy beaches and historic sights during our trip to France in mid-June. We were a party of five and Christophe engaged us all. One of our parties is well read WWII history buff who had never traveled to Normandy before. He showed us sights of special interest as well as the important battles on Utah, Omaha, and Gold beaches. His knowledge is encyclopedic and he shares numerous anecdotes as well as a broad history of events.
In addition to being an engaging guide and conversationalist, he is very accommodating. Our trip was postponed twice due to the pandemic and Christophe stuck with us through the changes.
There are few ways as reliable to judge a person's character as spending the day in a car driving in the French countryside listing to his "play by play" and answering our questions. He came out a true gentleman. Book him well in advance and consider yourself fortunate to have him as your guide.

A full day with Christophe in the American sector. His deep knowledge combined with expert storytelling bring to life a D Day story many only think they know. Highly recommended for individuals or families that want to see this historic day from a new perspective.

Christophe was our stand-in guide for our half-day tour in Normandy featuring Canada's contribution to D-Day. We were so blown away by his depth of knowledge, experience, professionalism, helpfulness, truly everything made our day in Normandy. No one else could have been better. The next time we're back in Paris, we 100% will book Christophe again so we can experience his Normandy tour featuring the US.

Christophe's tour with us was beyond excellent. He knows his history backwards and forwards, is very familiar with the area, knows so many engaging and interesting stories about the individuals involved in the landings and Normandy campaign and is charming and friendly, too. We spent almost 12hrs with him and it felt like minutes. We highly, highly recommend him!!

Hi Cristophe
Thank You for giving our group a very special experience of the D-day area. Your knowledge and storytelling made a huge impact. Many of us have seen Save Private Ryan after our visit, it gives a whole new perspective after Your tour. Hope You are well, half the group ended up with Covid after our trip.
Peter and my 17 friends from Sweden.

Christophe's tour was outstanding. It is difficult to find the right words to capture how moving of an experiencing his tour was. He is incredibly knowledgeable and clearly passionate about the history of Normandy and the D-Day invasions. He is kind, friendly, and quite pleasant to be around. Our group toured the American sector area of Normandy, though we cannot wait to return to participate in other aspects of his tours. We would return to Normandy for his tours alone. Thank you, Christophe, for your excellent tour, which will be a lifelong memory for our family!

My parents and I just completed a one day tour of the American sector of the Normandy landings with Christophe in May. I can agree with all the prior reviews, Christophe is an amazing guide. He picked us up at our hotel in Bayeux and we saw Sainte Mere Eglise, Point du Hoc, Utah Beach, and Omaha beach, as well as numerous other smaller locations and bunkers. Sounds like a lot, and it was, but the pace was great and we learned so much! However, what I will always remember is Christophe's timing to ensure that we were at the American Cemetary in time for the flag ceremony @ 1730. Incredibly moving. Book well ahead and you won't be disappointed with Christophe's private tour! I'd love to go back and do another day tour with him.

We went to France to see the Canadian Sector (Juno Beach) and learn more of the story of our Canadian Soldiers during the D-Day landings. In researching various group tours, we realised that our schedule and 'must-see' list wouldn't work on a bus with a set sight seeing tour.
I emailed several private tour guides, and liked the response from Christophe the best. We booked him and sent our request list.
Christophe picked us up at the train station in Caen in his wonderful, spotless tour vehicle and we were off!! The car is a touring car with huge windows, and can seat 5 people comfortably.
He told us of his passion for the stories of D-Day (he grew up in Caen knowing what the Allied Forces sacrificed for his city, country & Europe), and this passion shone through the entire day. Christophe knows more about Canadian history during the war than most Canadians do. His research and portrayal of the stories made D-Day come to life for us.
We HIGHLY recommend Christophe as a D-Day/Normandy tour guide. As he speaks fluent French, English and Italian (and probably a few more languages we didn't discuss), there is no fumbling for words in telling the story. Do take our advice and have a day that you will never forget. Rob & Heather

We traveled for a full day with Christolphe in August 2011 and were amazed by his breadth o knowledge about the history of the region and all there is to see and do to appreciate Normandy. We have traveled very extensively with many private guides and with organized tours. We had been to Normandy years ago and were so pleased to experience such an indepth visit with Christolphe. He tailored the day to our needs and we left him that evening wishing that we could spend more time with him. He was a teacher and an ambassador at the same time. His presentation was exciting! We highly reccommend him to anyone visiting the area. I am sorry that I did not review sooner but this week I gave a reference for him to a friend and he asked me if I had posted a review. Now I have!

Sorry, I don't go on Trip Advisor very often and don't use it for messages asking for tours. Go on Google and enter the 2 key words Normandy tour guide and you'll find my website since I can't enter any website address on Trip Advisor.
Thanks for your request and best of all. Christophe Rault.
