My group and I trekked for about an hour from a campsite to get here, the walk itself was interesting and made the outcome even more special. There were fewer tourists crowding this particular pool in comparison to the blue pool, making this one slightly more peaceful and refreshing. Perfect for a dive and a swim, make sure to keep an eye of your belongings when in the water. Worth the visit!

The black and the blue pool and the camping area are the places what are the most visited but it is at least or better to climb up to the viewpoint. It needs an effort but once up you get compensated for it.

The walk through the park can pass by this pool, where you can have a cool dip. It might be busy sometimes, but there are two pools next to each other.

This is just a hundred metres past the blue pool and seeing you are almost there you may as well continue on, but not as pretty as the blue pool.
Still worth the visit due to the spectacular nature of the canyon through which you walk.

The walk to the Black Pool takes about an hour or more. It's along the edge of a creek through a steep-walled canyon, with beautiful vistas. Because of the steep sides and running water, it can be a lot cooler than out in the open, so it is quite pleasant. You have to walk along a narrow edged path in parts, which can be damp or wet, so you need proper walking shoes. Also there are boulders to climb over and you do need to cross the water in areas, along stepping stones.
Once there you are allowed to bath in the water, but best to not have sunscreen or fly repellent on before you do so it will spoil the quality of the water and the wildlife in it.
Definitely worth doing.

We had an amazing day's trekking in Isalo National Park and ended up at the Black Pool. There is nowhere to change, so go prepared, if you want to swim. But the water is very cold.

This is a nice spot to take a dip after hiking up. The water was cool at first, but not bad after I was in. There was a nice little waterfall at the end that was nice to swim under. I dried quickly in the heat after getting out. Just a couple of notes here. First, there's no privacy, so wear wear your swim clothes underneath on the hike if you're shy. Second, the rocks along the bottom were fairly rough, so some aqua socks would help prevent stubbing a toe when getting in/out.

The walk towards the pool is really nice, the pool itself is not that special or big, and can be crowded since large groups are guided towards here, especially just before lunch, so choose your visiting time wisely!

The walk here is lovely. It's pretty easy terrain with nothing too challenging, although you have to walk over rocks towards the end which can get a bit slippery. You'd want to have good mobility but don't need any real fitness I don't think.
We saw lots of wildlife on the way and the scenery is beautiful with rocks and aridity giving way to lush, humid forest.
The pool itself doesn't look inviting, but it provided a refreshing dip after a hot walk!

The pool is a great place to stop to refresh yourself after a long morning walk. The black pool is fairly deep so colder than the blue pool (which is immediately adjacent). The walk to the pools is extremely interesting and it feels like you're in Jurassic park!
