We had the combined offer with 1h boat tour and unlimited pass at Discovery Centre. Overall everything very good but why not tell that you still have to buy at least AU$49 for the ferry across the river depending on the size of the vehicle??? I think it's very unfair and I was very annoyed. Please inform people!!!! The ferry staff are also very annoyed because the frustration is dumped there instead of at your place. SO ENSURE CLARITY!! Dan it's a real treat

As a family we visited the centre. We took the option of doing the audio tour and we extremely thrilled with this informative guide throughout the walk through the rainforest. The option of also listening to the additional aboriginal information was very interesting and added to the experience. All of the family who ranged in age from 8 to 72 enjoyed the experience and I would highly recommend it. The staff were friendly and helpful.

We loved this visit, we took the self guided audio tour and made our own way around the walkway. There are lots of information boards along the track, we read the ones that interested us and skimmed over the others. The audio pieces had extra information including the different sounds of the birds in the area so that you can identity them. I walked to the top of the 23mt canopy tower where you can see across the tree tops. We visited the Interpretive Centre and the Jurassic Forest, there is also a souvenir shop and a cafe.

We couldn't believe that we were expected to pay almost $100 for a family of 3 to take a short bushwalk and climb a 23m tower to see the tops of the trees. We laughed and walked back to the car and continued our day. I have never seen bushwalks charged like this anywhere else in Australia. And judging from previous reviews complaining about the price, I see that they have increased their prices every year over the last few years, so it's only going to get worse until more people come to their senses and say no.
FYI you can see pretty much everything here for free in other nearby walks.

Thanks for taking the time to review our Centre, although I don't think from your review that you actually came through, we are a rainforest tourist attraction, not a tourist trap.
The Discovery Centre is designed to give people access to the rainforest from every level which you can't do anywhere else in the Daintree, our walks take you from the forest floor to the top of the trees, while providing a vast amount of information on the Worlds Oldest Lowland Rainforest, with a 68 page guide book and audio guided tour, as well as an Interpretive Centre and Hologram Theatre.
We are privately owned so appreciate every visitor, as it ensures we remain open 364 days of the year.
We have not increased our prices since 2016, but todays cost of living means we have had a small increase in price this year.
If you had actually come through our Centre, you would have had a better idea what we have to offer, it's not just a tower and short walk, the whole experience takes at least an hour and a half to two hours and gives our visitors a wonderful experience.
There are free National Park walks in the area, which we recommend everyone to do, coming through our Centre makes these walks much more enjoyable but we appreciate it isn't for everyone.
We hope you enjoyed your visit to the Daintree Rainforest.

I was looking forward to visiting the Discovery Centre, the website looked very good and my 2 year old loves dinosaurs.
I was very disappointed. We hired a car for the day to visit and with the cost of the car ferry and entry to the Centre, we wasted a lot of money.
I would not recommend visiting if you have young children, they are not interested in listening to all of the audio which means you pay almost $50 to do a walk. The Dinosaurs are in much need of some TLC and were very disappointing.
It would probably be worth the cost if you were able to listen to all the different audio stops and read all the information and could spend a decent amount of time there.
TLDR, not for young children

Thanks for taking the time to leave a review, and acknowledge our Centre isn't for everyone.
Taking time really is the key to a great experience.
The rainforest is a harsh environment and we are in the process of replacing the dinosaurs.
We really appreciate your visit and hope you had a wonderful time in FNQ.

$39 for a jungle walk with an audio guide is a scam.
They sell it to you as if you are going to see animals (cassowary among others) and you only see insects and fish in fish tanks and some crappy plastic dinosaurs.
The tower is good to see the jungle from above, but not to pay for that.
It's not worth more than $10.
Pass by if you don't want to feel scammed.

Sorry this was your opinion of our Discovery Centre, we are not a zoo but an opportunity to access and learn all about the Worlds Oldest Rainforest, from the forest floor to the top of the trees.
Your entry fee not only contributes to rainforest research and conservation , but also ensures we remain open 364 days of the year.
We hope you enjoyed the rest of your time in the Daintree.

We stopped to check our what the centre was all about.
STAFF
Friendly
Excellent explanation of exhibit
Well spoken
PRICE
We felt that for an 1 hour long interactive exhibit the cost to do the educational tour was not enough value for us.
OVERALL
The dinosaur upon entry and video display was very clever.
The entrance was clean and well presented.

Thanks for taking the time to review our Discovery Centre, we are so pleased the staff were a highlight of your visit and they appreciate your comments.
We carefully monitor our entry fee, we are completely off grid and in a remote area which does have it's challenges and we remain open 364 days of the year to give visitors access to this special part of the World from the forest floor to the top of the trees.
Part of your entry fee goes back into rainforest research and regeneration so we thank you for your visit.

The price of admission is quite dear for what you actually get in return. I understand this isint a zoo, however I like to get value for money, and feel I didn’t get it here. A lot of better places to discover in the area. Staff were friendly and informative.

Hi There,
I am not sure when you visited our Centre but we have been closed since the 13th December due to the effects of Cyclone Jasper and subsequent flooding.
I hope when we reopen you are able to visit again and see all the improvements.
I'm pleased our staff were attentive to your needs.

Very informative and interesting place. Self paced audio tour takes you along the different levels of rainforest discovery. Listen to the traditional custodians of the land on the audio, or stick to the ‘Australian version’, both give good insight into the trees and animals of the rainforest.
Walkway takes you to the observation tower, which allows you to look out over the canopy, again using the audio guide as you go up.
There are live exhibits, model dinosaurs, and bush tucker trail also.
Cafe and gift shop full of local products to look forward to at the end of the tour.
Price could be slightly cheaper, but still worth the time to check it out.
Umbrellas provided for those wet days.

We visited today with an extended family group including two Grannies, two parents in their 40’s and 3 energetic and inquisitive boys aged 8,10 and 11. Having been in Cairns for almost a week and having been to the reef and lots of other or Cairns’ top tourist attractions we came with very high hopes and were not disappointed. The discovery centre was incredible, and it is exactly that, a discovery centre. Take the time out to spend a few hours here to really spend time learning and soaking up the remarkable Daintree rainforest. We were so impressed by Pete and his team and their willingness to take time to answer questions and share their experiences. The self guided audio tour is excellent as is the tree top walk and there is so much to see, learn and do. We will definitely be back.

I can't recall parents wheeling strollers about however for the most part the board walks are wide and flow into each other. It would be impossible to reach the top of the viewing tower with a pram as you climb steps from one platform to the other. I imagine if you have help you would be able to negotiate the lower boardwalk and perhaps walk up to the top of the tower carrying the child. The staff were extremely helpful so I would suggest emailing them and putting the question directly to them.

How easy is it to get here from where the cruise ship tenders drop you off?
Written April 22, 2018
Its an hour north of Port Douglas or 2 hours north of Cairns, you will need to hire a car.

How do I get there from Pt. Douglas and return to Cairns?
Written January 8, 2016
Hiring a car allowed us the freedom to move around and see a range of attractions - without the worry of following a timetable. We were able to enjoy this attraction at our own pace.
