The remains of Easby are yet another reminder of how important Yorkshire was during early Medieval times for the creation of England's great monastic houses. Set in a quiet more secluded area than some of the other great houses nearby, Easby is as fascinating as...More

A nice riverside walk only 1.5 miles from Richmond. Easby Abbey is just as you'd expect a ruined abbey to look. It's a great picnic spot, and you can walk back to Richmond along a disused railway, so nice easy walking. My dogs loved exploring...More

Open to all but maintained by English heritage, a lovely spot for a picnic. Free entry, limited parking. Nothing else there but the abbey ruins. Recommended

I was lucky enough to visit the Abbey as it is adjacent to Easby Church where I was attending a wedding, but I know that it is also possible to walk to the Abbey from Richmond Castle and this is something I plan to do...More

While we say many abbeys in Yorkshire, each one is different and unique as you meander through the ruins. An easy 2 mile walk from Richmond brings you to this set of ruins, which have some limited explanations on the history. A small church is...More

I've done the walk to Easby Abbey many, many times over the years, from Richmond Station along the old railway track or along a footpath (from the other side of the main Richmond bridge. Interesting place.

Yes the abbey is just a couple of minutes walk from Howe Villa, which is a very striking building with huge windows as I recall.
