A short deviation of 50m off the main road to Wilsons Prom will take you into the centre of this delightful, arty little town. Here we found the Gecko studio cafe with delicious cakes, great coffee and an art studio to browse through. We couldn't resist buying some beautiful pottery pieces. Cheerful service from the staff and reasonable prices. Plenty of caravan parking nearby which suited us and a pleasant park with clean toilets.

We arrived just before 9am, and we were the first here, ordered our coffee and tea, which were both exact, and sat ourselves down to read the paper. Within 10 minutes, the place was packed with people. It has a great vibe and the gallery is a bonus. Some fabulous works in here, really interesting and eclectic.
It will be our morning stop off whilst staying in the area.

I’ve visited Fish Creek many times but not stopped for food. This time we wandered through the town for the Makers Market, bought some supplies from the general store then had a light lunch at Gecko’s. Packed with people, we found ourselves a table for two and read our newspapers while we waited for our meals.
The Moroccan lamb pie with spiced pear and saffron chutney was superb so much so we bought a jar of the chutney. My smashed avocado and feta was soooo fresh with just the right amount of lime to give it a zing.
The staff are just gorgeous and very helpful
After our meal we explored the gallery’s artwork, checked out the art supplies at the rear of the store and admired the craftsmanship of some of the local artisans.
There is outdoor seating at the front for those warmer days.
Kid friendly. Caters for simple dietary requirements. Good parking out front. Not really wheelchair accessible but with a frame or cane you’d be okay.
I would highly recommend Geckos for not only the food be coffee but for the gallery experience.

Thank you for your wonderful review of Gecko, and we're pleased you enjoyed your visit. We are proud of our new cafe which we recently opened after renovating through winter. We are yet to install a glass door on the side for all access, along with more outdoor seating in the small garden area, all before the end of the year. Exciting times at Gecko!

I love that I can go there with no intention of buying but always come away with something even if only one of Kerry Spokes quirky greeting cards. Try and piece up one of her pieces before she gets the acclaim she deserves and her work gets priced out of the stratosphere. Always something interesting exhibited and great art supplies.

Stopped for a snack at Gecko on the way to Wilson's Prom, think it may have been the only place open in Fish Creek on a rainy Sunday morning. The staff were delightfully polite and attentive. Excellent tea (me) and coffee (wife) and tasty fruit loaf toast. It was busy with locals and visitors alike. Had a look around the gallery - some beautiful pottery and pictures. Think Fish Creek needs to be visited again.

Gecko was the only coffee place open in Fish Creek at 9.30am on the thurdsay morning when we were seeking a breakfast/coffee. For this reason alon,e it deserved our patronage.
However, we are so glad we stopped here as the coffee is GOOD and the home baked (yes I'm serious - homebaked) croissant and muffin were to die for. The croissants had just come out of the oven and the aroma was tantalising. One half of the shop is an interesting dedicated gallery. Friendly staff.. Don't forget to stop here if passing through or staying the night locally as we had.

Yes it sounds like a total theme fail. It should be "The Snapper" or "The Seahorse" .... and in some small way I have to agree. However push open the typical old country town store front and you will quickly forgive them for not getting the memo from the Committee for Fish Creek. So your cossetted to the right in country grace. Papers, coffee and the standard bottled condiments on the sideboard. And if you don't walk out having purchased some Spicy Pear and Saffron chutney turn right around and go back in. Order a bottle if they dont have any on hand. #karrigal berries. After a quick lap around the art gallery and a brief investigation of the art supplies to the rear of the gallery we quickly grabbed a pew. Ordered at the counter a Morrocan Lamb pie with the aforementioned Spicy Pear Chutney and Toast with Smashed Avo (yes it is a complete cliché I know) and Fetta. I handed over $ 2o dollars and still got some gold coin back in change. Macca's and Subway won't be storefronting in Fish Creek anytime soon.(Insert loud applause) ..... plus the locals would build a replica of the Bounty before they allowed that to happen. 5 five stars in quaint little Fish Creek. Yep without a doubt. Friendly staff and very nice coffee. A visit during the Fish Creek Makers Market weekend is ideal.

Ha! Gecko - total theme fail? We decided on the name after seeing just about every other business in Fish Creek use a 'fish themed' name....FishHooks, Fish Tales, Orange Roughy, One Fish....... Thanks for your great review of our newest addition, the cafe, to our store. Glad you enjoyed your lunch, and yes, the Pear and Saffron chutney sold out this weekend!

We have a special fondness for Fish Creek but hadn't been there for a while. We decided to pop in there on the way home from the Prom. Spotted the gallery, 'oh that's right, I remember that' and had to go in as they had some lovely stuff in there.
The owners are great to talk to and, unfortunately for our budget, while looking around we spotted a great piece of Ricardo artwork that would go just wonderfully in our lounge. Very quirky. So, that got bought and also a lovely red pottery bowl as well. There were lots of things in there we liked and I in particular, had to make a conscious effort to control myself spending-wise.
After looking there we were shown around the accommodation behind - something also very tempting. Beautiful and with a very special garden. I feel another visit coming on...

By combining displaying art and selling paints and pencils and crayons, this space acts to both inform and inspire the budding artist in us all. A great range of prints, cards, jewelry & pottery.
