Ku Chan, a temple that attracts many people during Maka Bucha Day
Jan 2016 • Couples
Ku Chan is a village close to Kham Khuan Kaeo in the province of Yasothon. The temple is well known as it contains a relic of Buddha. The place is crowded during the Makha Bucha festival. On that day, many people come to pray. At night, they turn three times around the main stupa with candles. The atmosphere on that day is very special. At the entrance of the temple, they organize a fair to celebrate the event.
Close by the new temple, you can also see the remaining of an old Khmer temple (Prasat Ku Ban Ngiu) surrounded with jungle. There is a small shrine close the remaining of the main sanctuary.
When driving from this Khmer temple, you can stop on the road to give bananas or corn to the group of monkey that stays close to the temple.
