For those who love gardens, this is the place to visit in Northern Thailand with flowers from around the world. The Royal Villa with audio tour is also quite interesting to visit as well as to learn about the King's Mother - known as the...More

Doi Tung is more than one thing or place. It is located in the mountains of Northern Thailand, easily accessible by car. Formerly, this was an opium producing area until it became a flourishing center helping many of the local hill tribe communities. There are...More

The garden is probably the only thing that is maybe worth a visit. There are some nice flowers and places in the big garden for taking pictures. Nevertheless, for me it was not interesting at all. The villa is nothing special either. The audio guide...More

Hi, My wife and I went to Doi Tung in late March 2014. The main areas consist of the Royal Villa itself, and the gardens. The Villa is the former home of the current Kings mother (now deceased). It was designed as a wooden swiss...More

First time visiting Doi Tung. Truely impress with how someone love of land and people could transform so much. We Thais are the luckiest to be subject under current Royal Family. Long Live the King!!

The surrounding gardens as well as the Royal Villa itself are exceptionally maintained. When entering the Villa be sure to get the free prerecorded tour guide which gives a very good explanation of the rooms.

We took a taxi to The black house, Doi Tung and the tea plantage in one day. It was really great and relaxing! We payed around 2500 for the drive. If you like nature, flowers and quietness this is a absolutely recommendation!

The Royal Villa is beautiful. Each person gets a guided tour with labeled stops and an interesting description or explanation in the language of your choice - spoken with perfect articulation! There are about 20 stops on the tour. The location is spectacular.

Better join tour or take vans to get it. The way up to doi tung is steep. A little bit far from Chiang Rai. If go from Mai Sae is much easier.

Hi Michael, All my apologizes for the delay. I cannot tell you since we did it by ourselves. I am quite sure there are daily tours. Another option could be to find a driver. If you do so, maybe go back to Chiang Mai at... More
