Caddie crashes golf cart!
Oct 2019
Was here on a weekend break from Bangers. I wanted to write a fair and objective review so other golfers know what to expect.

Location - stayed in Ban chang so easy 10-15 mins drive after a healthy Irish breakfast
The drive back to BKK was 4 hours with traffic.

Club House - Not up to the standard I am used too as its old and low quality especially locker rooms showers are good

Food - ordered Thai grub and was passable.

Caddies - Had a newbie caddie actually her 1st day, her mother was the other caddie and was informative. Shame her driving didnt live up to scratch.

Buggies - My 1st buggy run out of juice on the 3rd hole on a steep hill!!! another was brought along that was better. Until the caddie ditched it in the carpark by the lake.

Course Tees were average - It was cut shorter on the fiarways which for once I landed on 12 out of 18 holes but if you miss the grass is thick. the greens were in good condition actually played my best golf on this course so would be happy to go back. Would like an experienced caddie next time.

Cost - bht1750 green fee buggy + caddie
Its a very old tired course needs a lot of care attention and money spent on it.

It rained and we parked up at the food canteen with not much in way of snacks just water and crisps. needs better support from the management

Great course good caddies good challenge
Sep 2019
arrived and immediately went to change rooms and prepared for todays golf quite stop into cafe for drinks and ice as today was also very humid
course was challenging with dogs legs and trees on each dog leg corner
Greens were relatively slower but true
fairways were never flat as hills created slopes with uphill and downhill lies
drink stops were ok but not much food
cafe at end of game had coffee and cool drinks and provided a relatively easy menu to satisfy most tastes

Good Golfing
Dec 2017 • Friends
Emerald Golf Course is one of our favorite courses. The caddies are well-trained, therefore, helpful and friendly. Their guidance for playing the course is superb. Although the course is quite hilly, has Bermuda grass which can be a challenge, particularly when you play with clubs, it is an interesting course. Golf carts are, of course, available, but then the price of the golf goes up. Green fees and caddie fees are reasonable and the tip is usually 300 Baht for the caddie. Restaurant is very open with a limited view of the golf course. The food is good and quite reasonably priced. We are sometimes hampered by small flies in the restaurant, but that's Thailand. The shower facilities could be modernized, but the water is warm, towels are provided, lockers are available for storing your clothes and valuables and the changing rooms are cool. Hair dryer is available, although a bit ancient. Depending on where you come from, traffic can be a challenge during rush hours.

Expensive for a mountain golf course
Jun 2017 • Friends
Played golf here during the past month and it was really quiet. Perhaps this was due to its prices as it was not cheap by low season standards.
This is a mountain golf course some 3 kms beyond Ban Chang and it is over one hours drive south from Pattaya.
The golf course is well maintained and the caddies know their job and the golf course. It can be hard work to walk this hilly course so a golf cart is recommended.
The clubhouse is open plan with a limited menu and the staff could make some extra effort to welcome visitors!

Worthy a visit - challenging - but not for an average golfer !
Jan 2017 • Friends
I am a 17 handicap golfer and have played Emerald a number of times. I wanted to write a fair and objective review so other golfers know what to expect.
Location - its a bit of a tricky drive from Pattaya about 35km+ need a GPS

Club House - old and compared to other courses very basic and low quality especially locker rooms - but at least the showers are powerful and good towels

Food - Ok but my Thai wife was not impressed with quality - American breakfast good excellent omelette

Staff - polite friendly and helpful

Caddies - overall can get inexperienced ones so far mine have been fine

Buggies - terrible - lot of old beaten up ones - last visit it could not get up some of the steeper roads - replacement was sent out quickly but was hard to drive.

Course - the important bit -good practice range - Tees were average - fairways ok but personally I don't like the broadleaf - if you are very long you get the better grass - greens - good condition - very fast - But these are some of the toughest greens of any course - big undulations slopes easy to putt off - I personally found them to be exceptionally difficult - I play Pattavia a lot and its reckoned to have tough greens but easier than Emeralds - design - tight fairways lots of trouble - need to be straight - course management a must -overall very challenging.

Cost - At 1750 green fee buggy and caddy not too bad - but others better value like Pattavia, Greenwood, Green Valley etc

Summary
I probably wont play it again combination of poor golf and a course I have trouble with. Its a very old tired course needs a lot of care attention and money spent on it. But as I said worth a visit.

Just keeps improving

Back again after 4 months and the owners are certainly putting some work in course maintenance and presentation. The club house locker room is basic but the open air restaurant is perfect for a snack and beer after the game. Muirhead and Faldo have done a great design job on this hilly terrain. If doubtful take a cart. The caddies are friendly and knowledgeable.

Great improver

The fairways are broadleaf but are playing particularly well. The greens are true. The layout is great. A top golf challenge. The clubhouse is average but the open air layout suits the climate and the environment.
Very reasonably priced.
Easy to walk. carts available.

Very good design makes you think!

On arrival I was a bit disappointed looked old and poor condition - caddy organisation and carts was poor but got a good caddy. The course more than makes up for the old rather worn out facilities. Greens were true and good - fairways have two types of grass better near the greens. Overall will want to play again - reasonable price. Restaurant is open air good food very pleasant staff.

Nice but nothing special
Nov 2015
Nice golf course near Pattaya , Thailand. is it and good value but the Bermuda grass that makes up most of the fairways takes a different golf game to play and can make it a frustrating round.
