Phayun Beach, near Ban Chan in Rayong Province, is a gorgeous strip of silver sand, azure water, and Casuarina Pine trees. Its great attraction is that it is not very commercial, so it is never really crowded - a great place to get away and relax in peace and quietude.
Unfortunately, like many other beaches in Rayong Province and throughout Thailand, it is grossly littered with polystyrene, plastic bags and bottles, and much more flotsam and jetsam.
For some reason Thais seem not to notice the mess, and use the beach regardless. But I am sure overseas tourists would take one look and seek another beach upon which to spend their holidays.

Phayun Beach is one of three beaches in the Ban Chang District of Rayong Province.
This is the third time I have visited it and on each occasion the beach has been littered with garbage and with other garbage, like plastic bags and polystyrene food contains floating in the water.
The approach road to Phayun Beach divides it into the eastern and western parts.
The eastern part, looking towards the Mat Ta Phut Industrial Estates is very much undeveloped apart from some Thai-style fishermen's shacks and their small fishing boats on the beach.
The western end is more developed with beach deck chairs and restaurants.
But until the local authorities and businesses clean up the mess, they can have it to themselves.

This beach is at Ban Chang beyond Pattaya and Sattahip, very tranquil and less crowded , only locals with seafood restaurants. It's unique for soft sands , relaxed strolling along this beach or you sit dining on the thatched roof shack with sea breeze with amazingly cheap seafood. It's quiet and good for escaping from touristy beaches in Pattaya.

Nice to walk around, to buy some street food; some restaurants around. Local atmosphere; not the most clean beach
